9Life Fishing Excursion

The Year 9 Life students had an amazing experience fishing at the Ferntree gully quarry. There is some stunning views and some man-made fishing platforms the students could fish off. Students are learning about sustainability, how fisheries operate and why we need to catch and release where possible to have minimal impact on environments.

Students who hadn’t fished ever before had a fantastic day learning how to rig a fishing rod, too casting baited lines and even some soft plastic, lure fishing. The students who had fished before also had a fantastic experience in the outdoors. Types of fish species the students were looking to catch were the following trout, red fin, carp and golden perch.
