Homework linked to positive changes in students’ personality

Recent research indicates that “students who do more homework than their peers show positive changes in conscientiousness”.  While numerous previous studies have already clearly established the positive link between the amount of effort students invest in their homework and the increase in their academic success, this longitudinal study has reinforced the positive impact of homework to show that it increases the personality trait of conscientiousness.  The study further shows that while the worldwide educational trend exists of “a temporary dip in late childhood and early adolescence”, consistently doing set homework helps students to maintain their learning progress: “doing your homework thoroughly and meticulously appeared to counterbalance this dip”.

Years 9 - 11 examinations

Examinations have commenced for Year 9 students, with Year 10 and 11 examinations to follow.  A letter outlining the expectations and regulations for examinations has been emailed to Year 9 parents.  All parents and guardians are encouraged to read this with their child(ren) to ensure the examination experience is as smooth as possible. 

Examinations will take place during the following dates:

• Year 11 examinations                     13 November – 22 November
• Year 10 examinations                     16 November – 23 November
• Year 9 Examinations                       1 November – 3 November

It is important to note that the examinations are not the conclusion of the school year: as in previous years, Year 10 and 11 students commence their VCE studies in the week following the examinations with the Fast Start program.
