Layla (2H) travelled to Melbourne in the school holidays to represent South Australia at the Ninja Challenge League. She competed against 44 athletes from around the country. Although she had a fall midway through her run, she managed to complete the course in the time frame of 2 min and 30 seconds. She is looking forward to more competitions in the near future. GSPV is cheering you on!

GS Rockets

The GS Rockets had a very competitive match against the Pedare Sixers this week with the Rockets getting up 22-18.  Both teams went basket for basket for most of the match and half way during the second half, scores were tied at 16-16.  The Rockets continued to defend hard and were able to score and secured the win.  It was a pretty solid team effort this week with all players making a valuable contribution.  Inara dribbled well through traffic, as did Kia who also scored a great basket.  Elijah and Hunter had high scoring games and Jonte’s speed across the court couldn’t be matched by the opposition.

Scorers: Elijah (10 pts), Hunter (7 pts), Jonte (3 pts), Kia (2 pts)

GS Warriors

A strong start by Nate in the first minute followed by a great shot from Tenny and a long swish by Shayla had everyone up. Shaurya’s rebounds have the team extra opportunities. With a couple of injuries they showed courage to get back on the court. A late come back in the last 5 mins with 5 from Jake. A great effort from the team to fight back.

GS Little Jordans

Score 10/12

This week Jordans were playing their best. Great Team Spirit! All players were star players. Stand out was Baraka and Phoenix extra hungry for the ball.

GS Shooters

The Shooters, coming up against a team several positions higher on the ladder, played what may have been one of their most complete games of this season. From the tipoff this was a game of high intensity, with all players committing to a strong defensive mindset that saw us out-rebound and out-hustle the opposition, as well as attempt more shots at goals. Each player had at least several moments worthy of a highlight reel and whilst the narrow 4 point loss hurt, all parents were proud of the way everyone never gave up.

Special mention goes to Ashton Carr, who top scored with 7 points, and played with his usual maniac energy and pressure that created turnovers to our advantage.

GS Thunder

This week we came face to face with undefeated Adelaide Dragons. We had a plan to go in heads high, strong defence and good team encouragement. They did exactly that and got the win 12-4. Outstanding determination boys.

Scorers: Austin 12

GS Raptors

The GS Raptors went down to the GS Nets Thursday afternoon, with the final score 19-35.  The Nets are one of the standout teams in the competition.  The Raptors performed better in the second half, but the damage had already been done.  Oscar had great game and displayed his skillful dribbling ability.  Hadassah and Blake lifted in the second half and started to take some rebounds and Ronan had an impact on the game with his defensive work.

Scorers: Oscar (9 pts), Jayden (8 pts), Blake (2 pts)

GS Stars

The GS Stars performed well this week. We welcomed Grace back to the team and celebrated 5 goals… such a great result and team effort! All players were eager to learn and tried their best as they experienced new positions and learnt more about game play and positioning. Some great attacking from Aniko, Ivy, Grace and Amelia and some solid defensive work by Clara, Harla and Matilda. Well done girls!
