Holy Saviour School Bulletin

Dear Families,

School Holy Saviour Day Celebrations

Today all staff and students had a special “fun day” celebrating our Holy Saviour Day.  It was a great celebration of our school and parish, and a great lead-in event to our community wide celebration on Sunday.  The day began with mass and was followed by some fun activities for all the children. Proactivity joined us and led everyone through four tabloid rotations (which included a bit of a water fight!), A huge thank you to Belinda Saville for arranging the Tummy Topper food truck to come to the school and provide a special lunch for children and staff. Unfortunately we ran out of time for our inaugural Holy Saviour’s Got Talent show. This will be rescheduled and will be held during the general assembly on Wednesday 22nd November, 2.30pm.

Community Holy Saviour Day Celebrations

This is the big celebration! On Sunday 12th November, our entire Holy Saviour Community will be gathering to celebrate our Holy Saviour Day. The day will begin with mass at 10am and will be followed by some exciting activities. Please refer to the flyer below for all the information you require to join us for this community celebration of Holy Saviour.

Grade 5/6 Camp

Next week, all our Year 5 & 6 students will be attending camp from Monday 13th to Wednesday 15th November. We are going to Alexandra Adventure Resort, a brand new site for us, so we are all excited to see what it’s like. Mrs Rebecca Taylor, Mrs Jenni Kilkenny, Mr Justin Buttigieg and myself will be attending camp this year. We look forward to spending a fun few days with our 5/6 children!

Holy Saviour Christmas Picnic

Save the date! On Thursday 7th December from 6:00pm-7:30pm, we will be celebrating the year with our Holy Saviour Family Christmas Picnic. Children will be performing Christmas songs, Footsteps Dance will showcase all they have been doing with the children this term, and it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year together. More details will follow, but we encourage all families to make an effort to attend.

Book Club

The issue 8 Scholastic Book Club catalogue was sent home last week. This will be the final catalogue for 2023. There are some awesome Christmas ideas so take the time to browse. School Advisory Council Vacancies

The School Advisory Council (SAC) provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where the parent/guardian voice and perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by the Principal and Parish Priest for the good of School and Parish where the wellbeing and outcomes for students is paramount. The role is to give consideration to, and advice on, important School matters in order to support the Principal in the context of the MACS governance arrangements.

We are seeking new SAC Members for the 2024-2026 period, from a mixture of year levels and professional backgrounds. More information regarding the SAC can be found in its Terms of Reference. If you have an interest in being on the SAC, any of the existing members would be happy to be contacted and discuss the commitment involved. Swimming Program & Water Safety Week

As part of the swimming program, next Thursday 16th November all children will be participating in Water Safety Week. Children will be swimming in old clothes and bathers without goggles or swim caps. It is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn water safety and survival skills in a controlled environment. This class will also focus on what items you can use around the pool that may help you stay afloat or use as a lifesaving device.

In addition to their regular swim items (bathers, towel, thongs, underwear, plastic bag etc), children will be also be required to bring:

  • An old set of clothes to wear over their bathers in the water such as t-shirt and shorts, bike shorts, leggings or light short pajamas (no jeans, tracksuits, hoodies or jumpers)
  • An extra plastic bag for the wet clothing.
  • no goggles or swimming caps will be worn during this session.

At the end of the session all children who participate will receive a water safety certificate and a Squirt Tattoo.

Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to assist on their nominated days. Please refer to the below schedule for your remaining allocated session times:

If you are unable to make it on your allocated date and time please contact the office so an alternate parent helper may be contacted.

Please note that SwimWorld have advised that  NO SPECTATORS are permitted to the swim centre. Only parents/carers who have been authorised by the school and who hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) can be permitted to attend. Swimworld have also requested that Parent Helpers only stay for the duration of their allocated time slot so that the area does not become congested. Please also note that no toddlers or younger siblings are to be brought to the pool for safety reasons.
