End of Year Dance Concert 2023

What a perfect afternoon for our CEPS ‘End of Year Dance Concert’ on the oval last Thursday afternoon!

The children were all very excited, dressed up in a rainbow of colours and it was a pleasure to see the smiles on their faces and the energy shown when dancing.

Congratulations to all the children on a colourful, exciting performance!

Year 6 Thank you Lunch

The Year Sixes put on a lovely lunch to say Thank you to all the teachers they have had over the past 7 years.

Year 6 Graduation

Yesterday we had our Year 6 Graduation.

The ceremony was held at Cheltenham Secondary College. We would thank the parents who decorated the auditorium for us. We all received a Graduation certificate and then some people got special awards. The ceremony concluded with our Graduation dance. Thank you to Leanne for being our dance teacher.

At 11.30am we headed off to Betty’s Burgers for lunch. The food was delicious and the staff there were so friendly and helpful, they even put up decorations for us! We had the entire restaurant to ourselves and enjoyed chatting during our final lunch together.

After lunch, we moved onto the movies and watched Wonka. It was a really interesting movie and we enjoyed munching on popcorn while watching. The highlight was when Mr Bean came on.

We would like to thank Mr Ridgway, Mrs Ward, Divya and Natasha for coming along. A big thank you to Mr Packham, Ms Boucher and Mrs Kerr for organising the day.

Our time at CEPS is coming to an end. We look forward to enjoying our last few days.

Year 5 DanceSport

We have been in a Dance sport program called My Best Self.

We have been doing My Best Self program for the whole of Term 4. It has been an amazing experience for everyone, and we have all come out of our comfort zone and have become more confident in dancing with a partner and just dancing in general.

My favourite dance is the Samba. It's a party dance where you are happy and active. I also like the Tango and the Jive as well. We all enjoyed dancing and had a really fun time.

My favourite dance was the Jive. It's a fun, quick and energetic dance. At first it was really complicated but a few weeks in we got the hang of it.

Now at the end of the program I think that everyone is feeling way more comfortable dancing with a partner.

We learnt about Empathy and how to put yourself in other people's shoes. We also learnt how to respect each other and we talked about how to be brave and how  we can get through tough situations.

We would love to give a huge thanks to Miss Karla for teaching us these three dances. Today the year 5A will be performing 3 dances. The Samba, Tango and Jive. We hope you enjoy all the effort that we put into the dances.

Thank you for coming and have a wonderful Gala night!

My Best Self is a 10-week experience, where we learnt three new dances: the Samba, Tango and Jive. Through this experience, we learnt to be inclusive, have confidence and respect, just to name a few. Before we started, I was scared to dance with a boy but Karla, our instructor, helped us get comfortable with the dances and dancing with boys.

On the night of the Gala, we started dancing with our classes and then  some partners went up in the next rounds. Finally, there was a winner. When we went into the ballroom there were three judges choosing the winners. In one round, Mr Ridgway and Mrs Ward became judges too.

The night was fun and exhilarating, cheering on your friends and seeing them improve. I would love to do it again in Year Six and I would encourage next year’s Year Fives to also do it.
