CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Respectful relationships we are learning about bravery and exploring what it feels like when we have to do something we are afraid of.
VOCABULARY
Bravery/Courage: doing something even though we're scared.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Storytime: Brave Characters
Materials: Books with brave characters (e.g., The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright, Brave Irene by William Steig).
Activity: Read stories that feature characters showing bravery. After reading, discuss how the characters felt when they faced their fears and what helped them overcome challenges. Explain that being brave is finding the strength to have a go even if you feel nervous or afraid. It does not mean the feeling of being scared goes away, though that might happen afterwards. It means not letting this feeling stop you from taking action.
Learning Goal: Learn about bravery through storytelling and relate the characters' experiences to their own lives.
