This week in Reading, we will learn how to summarise a Non-fiction text.

VOCABULARY

Summarise - telling the most important parts of a text, in your own words, in a much shorter way

Non-Fiction - books that are real and include true, factual information

Facts - statements that are true

Important - something significant

Information - knowledge or facts

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Get your child to talk about what a non-fiction text that they’ve read. Then they can summarise the correct sequence of facts in a non-fiction text Prompt them to use proper vocabulary from the text read and express the facts from the non-fiction text.
