Year 8
End of the Year
The Year 8 students had a wonderful time at Camp Jungai in week 5. It was a wonderful way to enjoy our time together at the end of the year. Set in the lovely area of Lake Eildon, we faced all kinds of weather but were able to have lots of fun, eat yummy food and learn from the wise Auntie Aurore.
Our 3 day camp was a challenging experience. On the way our bus broke down which was a pretty funny time, and it was quite hot that day which we still had to go on a 5km walk/hike. Staying in tents was super fun, however the bugs were a disaster. All the activities during the day were super fun. The high ropes were definitely a highlight of our trip. - Alana L
As part of their Geography unit, students participated in a Coastal Fieldwork Excursion, where they explored the processes of deposition and erosion at Sandringham Beach. Students were able to apply their knowledge of coastal landscapes to implement practical skills to measure their hypotheses. Thankfully, we had wonderful weather on the day.
Presentation Evening was a wonderful event and I was pleased to present all our Year 8s on the stage at Robert Blackwood Hall. It was a special night to be remembered. Congratulations to Alana L for receiving the Shelly Spirit Award for Year 8 and to Chloe B for being the co-winner of Sportswoman of the Year Award. Fantastic achievements for both!
The final Wellbeing Days were jam-packed full of activities to enjoy as a Year 8 cohort. The students made commemorative mugs and enjoyed the festive cheer with the Kris Kringle. We were invited to watch the special Junior School Talent Show which was an enjoyable afternoon.
Friday was the perfect day to go ice-skating at O’Brien Icehouse. Many of the students took to this activity like ducks to water. Some of us however, (myself included) perhaps have talents hidden elsewhere. I am glad the students had so much fun together.
Thank you to Ms Li and Mr Ritchie for all their work this year as the wonderful Year 8 Wellbeing Mentors.
Best of luck to the Year 8 students on their future endeavours.
