The river is flowing, 

Flowing and growing,

The river is flowing back to the sea.

The children in Billy Button have found much joy in exploring flowing water in their outside play. An accidental spill of water flowing and spreading across the table captured their interest and sparked a seed of curiosity. The children have been making ‘rivers’ all over the Billy Button garden ever since. They have been watching the water branch out and change directions. They have built walls to redirect the flow, and bridges to cross over for those less inclined to get wet.

These photos beautifully capture the excitement of the ‘river’ that appeared from a garden bed being watered. A slow trickle of water turned into our biggest river yet. As it expanded so did the number of children drawn to the water, each engaging with it in different ways. Some were right in there, building dams and walls. Some watched from the table giving them a good view of the unfolding spread of water. Some jumped over the water, and then jumped it again and again! Ultimately it turned into delightfully messy and cool mud play.

Important Dates 2025 for Billy Button

Meet and greet Orientation morning for ALL BB children and families:

Saturday January 26th, from 10-11am

We invite all returning families and new families to come to familiarize your child and you with the space, the teachers and with each other.

Starting days in 2025 for BB children:

BB has a staggered start to allow the children to settle in gently. You will be sent a letter to inform you of which day your child will attend for the first three weeks.

WEEK 1

Wednesday January 29th – 1st group of 5 children attend

Thursday January 30th – 2nd group of 5 children attend

Friday January 31st – 3rd group of 6 children attend

WEEK 2

Wednesday February 5th   – 1st group of 5 children attend

Thursday February 6th – 2nd group of 5 children attend

Friday February 7th – 3rd group of 6 children attend

WEEK 3

Wednesday February 12th – 1st group of 5 children attend

Thursday February 13th – 2nd group of 5 children attend

Friday February 14th – 3rd group of 6 children attend

WEEK 4

All children attend together for both Thursday and Friday sessions and no longer attend on Wednesdays.

BB Parent/Teacher Meeting: Friday February 7th, from 12:45-1:45pm

Preschool Working Bee with your child: Saturday February 15th from 8-10am

A great time to meet and mingle and create an interesting and beautiful learning environment for the children.
