Year 2 Sleepover

On Friday 8 November, the Year 2 students from our Brooklyn Park campus gathered for our Year 2 Sleepover. The weather was lovely, and students enjoyed playing games, participated in a devotion before bed and enjoying each other’s company throughout what was a delightful evening. We had pizza for dinner, enjoyed fruit, iceblocks and fruit boxes together, and got to sleep in tee-pees.

It was a wonderful time had by all!

Year 3/4 Mylor Adventure Camp

Last week, our Year 3/4 students at Brooklyn Park had an unforgettable adventure at Mylor Camp! The students embraced the outdoors and participated in a variety of exciting activities, including flying fox, crate stacking, challenge course, the flying possum, archery, bouldering, and frisbee golf. These activities provided not only a fun challenge but also a chance to refine their skills and teamwork.

It was truly heartwarming to see our students encouraging one another, celebrating each other’s successes, and offering support during the more challenging moments. Whether they were strengthening old friendships or making new ones, the camp experience allowed our students to build strong connections with their peers.

We couldn’t be prouder of how they stepped out of their comfort zones, trying new things and giving it their all. Our students really "climbed to new heights" this week!

Here are some reflections from our students about their time at camp:

Camp was really fun because we didn’t get to do things we normally do and just being with my friends made me really happy. Daniela A.

I really enjoyed the flying possum because I went really high and then I dropped down really quickly! I conquered my fear of heights. Hamish C.

The meals were so good! We had scrambled eggs for breakfast- my favourite! Rhys

It was very exciting and it pushed me out of my comfort zone. It was also very fun going on the flying possum. Aria C.

I like the fact that I had an opportunity to conquer my fear of heights and have the courage to sleep a night away from my parents. Joie T.

I really enjoyed camp because I was able to go on the flying fox and also conquered my fear of heights. Luke P.

It’s clear from their words that our students not only grew in confidence but also in their ability to work together and support one another. A big thank you to the teachers, camp coordinators, and all the staff who made this such a successful and enriching experience for our Year 3/4 students.

We hope this experience will inspire our students to seek new challenges and adventures.

Enjoy your next adventure—whether big or small, we know you’ll take it on with the same courage and enthusiasm!

Remembrance Day

On 11 November students and staff at our Brooklyn Park Campus came together to honour and remember the courage and sacrifice of our servicemen and women at our special Remembrance Service. The service provided a time for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance, bringing our school community together in unity and respect.

During our service, our Foundation and Year 6 students shared some remembrance poetry they had worked on together. We also participated in a reading of the "Ode of Remembrance" and listened to the Last Post as we paused for a moment of silence. We prayed for God to be with those who had served or lost loved ones and for us to have the courage to bring peace to our school each day.

Our staff and students contributed to our College wreaths by colouring in poppies as a way of expressing gratitude and paying tribute to veterans and active-duty service members.  The wreaths were laid on stage by staff and students, then later presented again at our local Remembrance service, at Hilton, attended by our Year 6 student leaders.

Reflecting on the importance of remembrance, the ceremony served as a poignant reminder for all in attendance, emphasizing values of peace and gratitude, with students respectful and quietly reflecting on this throughout the service.

As a school, we are proud to continue this tradition of remembrance, reinforcing our commitment to peace and understanding within our community.

Year 5/6 SACSA Basketball

In Week 3 our Year 5/6s from Brooklyn Park represented the College in the SACSA Basketball competition.

Well done to all competitors, we faced some brilliant team and both girls and boys teams rose to the challenge and worked hard all day.

Well done 5/6's!
