Life Ready Program
Last week Year 10 took part in the Life Ready program which is aimed at preparing students for life after school. They learned about the costs associated with living away from home, the steps needed to find a rental property and the expenses of car ownership. The students engaged deeply with the activities, produced some great work and made some insightful contributions to class discussions. The afternoon sessions were spent completing the Minimum Standards modules needed to qualify for the HSC.
On Friday morning we had guest speakers providing information about a variety of careers. A former student, Blaine Moore described his journey from HSC student to apprentice electrician to tradesman to small business owner. He also outlined the benefits of being a tradesman and the current job opportunities in the building industry. Leo Fittler, TAFE teacher and former shearer, told the students about agricultural courses available at TAFE as well his life as a shearer.
