Junior School News

Year 1

This term, Year 1 students have been investigating dinosaurs. They have been looking at different ways to measure how long dinosaurs were, how big dinosaur heads and feet were, and then comparing their findings with other living things today. Students have been enjoying taking their learning outside! They have also enjoyed creating dino themed art and craft activities. Students have been looking at ways to start their narrative (story writing) with the use of techniques that grab the reader's attention. They will focus on this for the next few weeks, and will experiment with using a variety of writing prompts to assist them. Also, it was fun meeting Miss Kiah's cute ducklings last week during their visit to the classroom! As this is the last newsletter item for Year 1, 2024, Mrs Cotter would like to say how impressed she has been with each students' social/emotional and academic growth over the year. She's one proud teacher!
