Hi all
On Tuesday, our cricket team travelled to Mt Eliza for the South Metro Region finals. We had comfortable wins in the preliminary games, defeating Balcombe Grammar School, Woodlands PS and Beacon Hills College.
In the grand final we played the other undefeated team from Barton PS. It was a see-saw battle throughout most of the game. We didn’t score as many runs as usual due to their very good bowling but then we were able to restrict them to a seemingly losing total.
Enter the last over. Their last batsmen was going to go down swinging and that he did. He hit four double sixers in the last over. It was going to be tight and when we finally added and then tripled checked the scores - we won 184 to 183. It may have been only one lousy beautiful run but now we are off to the Victorian State Finals! Well done Pat, Leo, Rex, Wes, Josh, Aiden, Tom, Cooper, Joel and Marcus.
This will be held on Friday 29th November at the Ian Johnson Oval in St. Kilda.
Then on Wednesday, our mixed tennis team travelled to Pakenham for the South Metro Region Finals. The team played 3 rounds in a best of 12 format. We defeated Lyndale Greens PS 11 - 1 and Balcombe Grammar School 8-4. But then we lost to Oakleigh South PS 5-7 and that put us out. It was a very good effort overall from the kids - Aiden C, Ollie G, Marcus Mc, Charlie T, Lincoln H, Tom D, Tommy Mac, Paddy W and Leo W. We took a team with little weekend comp tennis experience and they went deep into the S.S.V. pathway.
I would especially like to thank the St Louis families for organising the transport of the cricket and tennis teams on the days, as well as your cheering from the sidelines.
Finally, here are the upcoming dates for the remaining sporting dates for the year
Yours in Sport
