IB PYP YEAR 6 EXHIBITION

Year 6 Exhibition is a significant milestone in our students' educational journey. This culminating inquiry is not only an opportunity for our students to showcase their learning but also a chance for them to engage deeply with their interests and the world around them.

What is the Year 6 Exhibition?

The Year 6 Exhibition is a year-long inquiry project where students select a topic of personal interest, explore it in-depth, and present their findings to the school community. This project encourages students to take ownership of their learning, develop their approaches to learning, and demonstrate the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.

So far this year, the students have:

  • Selected a topic: Each student has identified a topic that resonates with them, often connected to global issues, personal passions, or community challenges. This selection process is guided by teachers to ensure that students choose topics that are meaningful and manageable.
  • Researched and Inquired: Students engage in thorough research, utilizing a variety of sources to gather information. They learn to ask open-ended questions, analyze data, and synthesize their findings, developing essential research skills along the way.
  • Collaborated: Throughout the Exhibition process, some students have worked in groups, promoting teamwork and collaboration. They learn to value different perspectives and ideas, enhancing their interpersonal skills.
  • Taken Action and Reflected: The Exhibition culminates in an action component, where students apply their knowledge to make a positive impact. This could involve community service, awareness campaigns, or creating projects that address the issues they explored. Reflection is a key part of this journey, allowing students to think critically about their learning experiences.
  • Prepared their Presentation: Finally, students present their projects to the school community, showcasing their learning and the insights they have gained. This is an opportunity for them to demonstrate their communication skills and engage with an audience.

The Year 6 Exhibition is not just another inquiry, but rather a transformative experience that prepares students for future learning and life challenges. It fosters independence, creativity, and a sense of responsibility. By engaging with real-world issues, students develop empathy and a greater understanding of their role in the community.

We invite the wider school community to our Year 6 Exhibition on:

Wednesday 13 November from 5 pm to 6 pm in the Manuka Building

Did you know that only 1 in 3 marine creatures caught in nets makes it to the plate? The accidental catch of unintended sea life in nets is called bycatch. This devastating issue is decimating our oceans and the fascinating life within them.

On Sunday the 3rd of November, we went to the Pines shopping centre to inform the local community about our Exhibition topic, bycatch. Our main objective was to educate members of the community about what bycatch is and how, as consumers, we can work together to take steps towards solving this problem. We spoke to 62 interested people about checking their seafood for the MSC logo and how they can ensure the seafood they’re buying is caught in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

If you’re wanting to know more, visit us at our Exhibition stall on Wednesday the 3rd of November in the Manuka building.

We are talking about gender inequality in sport for our exhibition. Down below you can see a graph about how many sports news articles are about women vs men. You can also watch a video below that shows women can be the same as men.

Our topic for Exhibition is Cyber Safety, Digital Wellbeing and the online world. As part of our action, we have created a website that you can access using the QR code on the poster below. On this website, you can play games and learn about the online world and help to make the online world a more harmonious place to learn, connect and play. Thank you!

For Exhibition, we have created something called the ‘Bully-Box’. Here’s what it’s for, how to use it and the rules everyone will need to follow to use it.
