CHOIR EXCURSION TO AGED CARE HOME

Last week, our choir had the wonderful opportunity to visit Cardinia Aged Care Home and perform for the residents. We were so proud of their bravery in singing to a new audience. The residents were incredibly grateful and thoroughly enjoyed being entertained by our talented students. It was a heartwarming experience for everyone involved!

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS

This week, families received a notice regarding our 2025 voluntary contributions. These contributions are essential to help the school cover the costs of materials needed for student learning, such as stationery and books. If you have any questions about making a contribution, our administration team is happy to assist.

LIBRARY BOOKS

As we prepare for the end of the year, we ask families to support students in locating and returning library books. Our stocktake will begin shortly, and we will send reminders home with students for any outstanding books. Thank you for helping us ensure our library is ready for 2025!

GETTING READY FOR A BUSY END OF YEAR!

2025 TRANSITION

STATEWIDE TRANSITION DAY – TUESDAY, 10TH DECEMBER

On Tuesday, 10th December, students will participate in the Statewide Transition Day, where they will meet their 2025 teachers and classmates in their new Learning Community locations.

  • SUPPORTING TRANSITION AT HOME
    • Transitioning to a new year level can be exciting but may also cause some anxiety. Here are three tips to support your child:
      • Focus on the positives: Discuss new opportunities they can look forward to in their new class.
      • Encourage questions: Let them share their thoughts or concerns and answer with reassurance.
      • Reflect on past transitions: Remind them of previous transitions they navigated successfully.
  • Students will return to their 2024 classes at 1:15pm for eating time, where they can discuss their transition with their current teacher.

SECOND TRANSITION MORNING – FRIDAY, 13TH DECEMBER

To further support students, we will hold a second transition session on Friday, 13th December (8:45am–10:45am). This will provide additional opportunities to strengthen relationships with their 2025 teachers and classmates.

CLASS PARTIES – FRIDAY, 13TH DECEMBER

Following the second transition session, students will enjoy their class parties from 11:15am–1:30pm.

At OPPS, we celebrate with fish and chips, where students will receive hot chips and either a potato cake or a dim sim, along with a juice box. A Compass event has been sent to all families with further details.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To manage allergies, students are not permitted to bring other food to share. We kindly ask families to provide consent and payment for this event at their earliest convenience.

GRADUATION – WEDNESDAY, 11TH DECEMBER

We are excited to celebrate our Year 6 students as they conclude their primary school journey. Graduation will take place on Wednesday, 11th December from 5:00pm–8:30pm. We look forward to commemorating this special milestone with our Year 6 students and their families.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT – THURSDAY, 12TH DECEMBER

Our much-anticipated End-of-Year Christmas Concert will be held on Thursday, 12th December, and we warmly invite all families to join us. The event will begin at 5:30pm, with families encouraged to set up picnics on the oval before the show starts at 6:00pm. Thanks to the hard work of our Parents and Friends Committee, there will be a variety of food trucks available for families to purchase meals and enjoy the festive atmosphere.  We expect the concert to finish at approximately 7:30pm, and we look forward to seeing you all there to share in this special evening!

ALTERNATE TIMETABLES

With so many events happening as we near the end of the term, alternate specialist timetables will be in place. Teachers are mindful of students who benefit from additional preparation and will do their best to ensure every child feels comfortable and supported.

FAREWELL TO MRS CAMPBELL

Next week will be Mrs Campbell’s final week at OPPS before she begins her family leave. We wish her all the best as she prepares for the arrival of her baby and thank her for her incredible contributions to our school community this year.
