What's happening in the Specialist classes?

Sports

This semester, 3-6 students got the opportunity for a unique and exciting challenge—designing and playing their very own mini-golf course! The project combined creativity, critical thinking, and target practice in an innovative way that not only tested their problem-solving skills but also encouraged teamwork and imaginative design.

They were tasked with designing holes that varied in difficulty and incorporated different elements like ramps, curves, and obstacles—everything from mini bridges to tunnels. As they worked, the focus wasn’t just on creating a fun game; the students were also learning to think critically about hitting with appropriate distance and direction to maximise their chance of the ultimate thrill… a ‘Hole in One’.

Digitech

Grade 1/2 Digi Tech  - Keynote Presentations

Students explored different forms of animal adaptations and their survival techniques. They used this knowledge to design their own creature on the app Creature Garden and then created an informative Keynote presentation. Here are two amazing examples by Indigo and Madeleine from 2C.

Data and Coding

Students have recently coded the micro:bits as an array of different data collection tools, such as a thermometer and pedometer. Students then recorded and analysed the data in a variety of ways.

Web Design

Students designed webpages to advertise their ‘Dream World’ games. Here are some great examples:

Prep excursion to Sea Life

Last Friday, our Prep students had so much fun learning about the Sea Life at the Melbourne Aquarium.  Thank you to the Prep team for organising and all the parents who volunteered on the day.
