Subject Selection
As Semester 2 begins, we are in the process of planning for the Year 9 and 10 Subject Selection Interviews. All students along with their families and carers are invited to attend these interviews. The purpose of these interviews is to help students choose subjects for their Senior Phase of learning at Marist-Sion College, while also considering their post-school goals.
Our aim is to prepare students for this process by offering the Subject Selection Showcase in Term 2 and conducting the Subject Selection Interviews for Year 9 and Year 10 students in Term 3. These events provide valuable opportunities for our Careers and Pathways Coordinator, Learning Area Leaders, and Subject Specialists to offer guidance and ensure that students have a good understanding of the diverse subject offerings and learning pathways available.
We emphasize the importance of the partnership between the student’s family/carers and the College, as it is crucial in supporting each student on their learning pathway, whether they choose a VCE, Vocational Major, Year 10 Standard program, or the Year 10 Vocational Pathway Program.
Every student is unique and has different goals based on their interests, as well as their desired employment or further study post-school, and their personal situation. The process of subject selection enables our students to receive guidance from our staff to help them make decisions for their 2025 learning programs. This gives students the opportunity to commit to their studies through their subject choices.

2024 Colour Awards
Our College Community were fortunate to come together during the last week of Term 2, to affirm student achievement during the 2024 Colour Awards Presentations. To achieve a particular Colour Award, each student must not only show their ability, skill, and passion in certain fields, but must also demonstrate a high level of participation, consistency, and distinction towards their work ethic, over a number of years.
Furthermore, the awardees must satisfy the endorsement of their House by meeting general requirements including being a positive and supportive member of the College community.
Colour Awards are awarded to students in Years 10, 11 and 12 and are based on achievements over all the previous years as a student of Marist-Sion College.
There are various colours for each of the awards:
- Viridian Green for Academic Diligence
- Black for Applied Learning
- Teal for Design and Technology
- White for Justice
- Imperial Purple for Liturgy and Celebration
- Burnt Orange for Performance
- Gold for Production
- Royal Blue for Sport and Games
