Chinese High Achievers Program
This year, we launched the Chinese High Achievers Program (CHAP), and it has been a tremendous success! Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our language assistant, Ms Ren, students from Year 7 to 9 have received authentic practice, significantly boosting their Mandarin speaking, listening, and comprehension skills.
Throughout the program, students engaged in short conversations to practice self-introduction in Mandarin, experienced the art of Chinese calligraphy, and expanded their vocabulary and sentence patterns.
To celebrate the success of our students, we held a Mandarin Lunch Award. The event was a delightful cultural experience where students enjoyed delicious fried dumplings using chopsticks and tried Chinese flower tea.
We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements and look forward to seeing their continued growth in Mandarin!

Year 7 ‘Speak&Share’ workshops.
Speak&Share “A problem shared is a problem halved”
As part of the College’s continued approach to improve students holistically through positive education, across Monday 5/8 and Tuesday 6/8, all Year 7 classes took part in a 1-hour workshop run by Speak&Share.
Speak&Share is a Mental Health organisation that opens and encourages conversations about mental health and discusses ways to strengthen your mental health. The presenters did this by creating a safe environment, sharing their own stories and sharing what helps them to stay mentally healthy. This all paved the way for students to partake in group discussions, and culminated in students creating their own sunflower:
the petals = the important people, places and things in their life,
the stem = a quote or sentence that stands out to them and
the soil = their values.
Lastly, students were encouraged to think about and discuss 4 ways they look after/keep their mental health positive, healthy and strong!
Year 8 - Tyson Day Incursion
Recently we had a guest speaker come in and speak to our Year 8 students. His name was Tyson Day, and he is a part of the ‘Arrive & Thrive’ workshops. He shared his life experiences growing up, his school experiences and some challenges he faced throughout the years.
He also promoted the idea of our students’ acknowledging positives in their lives, engaging positively with friends and starting to think more actively about the future. He was a very engaging presenter, and we highly recommend continuing these kinds of discussions at home around acknowledging the positives in our lives and thinking about pathways and careers as we progress up the Year Levels.
Targeted Year 8 Programs
Year 8 Money Talks Incursion Part 2
We're thrilled to announce that our Year 8 students will participate in the second part of the Talk Money program. This initiative aims to introduce key financial concepts and money management skills in an engaging and inclusive way.
Why it Matters: Financial literacy is a crucial life skill. The program ensures all students can confidently navigate financial decisions and plan for their future.
What to Expect: The workshops are designed for all students and will be integrated into our curriculum. We’re excited about this opportunity and encourage you to support your child’s participation.
Year 8 Butterfly Foundation – Body Kind Program
We’re excited to introduce the upcoming Body Kind eLearning program in collaboration with the University of the Sunshine Coast. This program is designed to support teens and their self image through engaging online resources. Nearly half of young people say that social media has made them feel dissatisfied, anxious or upset about themselves and more report feeling pressured to look a certain way. This program will run for 3 weeks within our ‘Learning For Success’ classes.
Targeted Program Sleep Patterns
We are excited to share with you an upcoming initiative designed to support our students in managing their sleep patterns effectively. These sessions will be facilitated by a trained Adolescent Health Nurse with the goal is to address the ten main reasons young people have sleep issues and provide practical tips to improve sleep quality.
