Here is a short recap of some of the recent production rehearsal highlights from our Performing Arts Captains, Kaneisha Lynn and Jaxon Learmonth:
On the 19th and 20th of June our production cast was visited by the extremely talented Lauren Bok! Lauren held a workshop over our Wednesday and Thursday afterschool rehearsals to help us work on our groupwork skills and our own stage character development.
On Wednesday the 19th of June, Lauren took our lead cast through many characterisation activities. These activities ranged from things like projection to improvisation. With working on improvisation Lauren got students to be interviewed by their peers however there was a twist, they had to stay in character the entire time answering questions from the group as their character. This was an excellent idea as it helps students stay in character, while being put on the spot. This was a genius activity to run, especially when it comes to show preparation.
On Thursday the 20th of June, Lauren came in to run a workshop with a group of our featured cast. On this evening we completed a large range of puppetry skills, acting exercises as well as working on characterisation for our roles. With puppetry, the students playing the ‘Crows’ got the opportunity to learn how to use the puppets for the first time. Activities included working in front of the mirrors to match the puppets movements, dancing , speaking and even singing with the puppets. The evening gave them a chance to express these characters through the acting technique of puppetry.
We are all extremely grateful for the fun activities that Lauren taught us along with providing us with a new exciting experience. However, this wouldn’t have happened without our fabulous teachers who are working with us to create a fantastic show! We are so grateful to our teachers for putting on afternoon rehearsals where our cast and crew are working alongside our dedicated teachers to complete the rehearsal process to showcase our show to you all. We’re so excited that tickets are going on sale. Make sure you get your tickets early before they’re sold out! See you in August!!
