From the Year 4 Classroom

In Reading, we have been learning about Book Clubs. After enjoying some ‘book tastings’ we have formed Book Clubs in our classes. Each week, students will meet with their club where they can share their thoughts and notes about their text.

Book Clubs are a great way to encourage our students to hone their speaking and listening skills by sustaining on-topic conversations, considering others' viewpoints and reflecting on and setting new goals for the group.

In Writing, we have been looking at enhancing our creative and narrative writing by generating ideas and designing original and unique characters. The students have been enjoying some ‘Quick Writes’ and learning about how writers explore plot, setting and character development in their stories.

In Maths, we are learning to use units of measurement by practising with scaled instruments to measure and compare lengths, masses, capacities, and temperatures. By using tools like rulers, scales, measuring cups, and thermometers, we can accurately determine how long, heavy, full, or hot something is.

In R.E. our students are continuing to learn about the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. As our Year 4 candidates continue to prepare to receive their Confirmation and First Eucharist, we have been focusing on the special symbols and rituals involved. We recently joined Father Jun Jun at our Companion Mass. It was great to have some family members and parishioners join us at the Mass.
