From the Year 6 Classroom
In Literacy, students have been creating a rewrite of the picture story book ‘Cicada’, by Shaun Tan. ‘Cicada’ is a beautifully illustrated book that tells the story of a hardworking cicada who is overlooked and unappreciated in his office job. The book explores themes of isolation, resilience, and transformation. The powerful message of the story is about finding hope and liberation, even after enduring difficult and thankless experiences. The book encourages readers to appreciate the overlooked and underappreciated, and to find their own path to fulfillment.
In Numeracy, the students are focusing on fractions and decimals, exploring the relationship between them and how to convert from one to the other.
In other news, five individuals participated in crafting a speech for the Lions Club public speaking competition centered around the topic of "Who is the most influential person in your life?” Congratulations to Sally Howell who will be representing our school proudly at the club level.
