‘Who We Are’ –SHOWCASE
Central Idea: The body is made up of different systems that need to be maintained to stay healthy.
In Year 4 the students have been working hard this term in the lead up to their Human Body Showcase.
On Friday 21s June the rest of the school and wider community were invited to attend the Showcase, where Year 4 students shared their knowledge through oral presentations, digital presentations, display posters, interactive games and models.
The Year 4 teachers are very proud of all the students’ efforts and were so impressed with how knowledgeable they are – congratulations Year 4 students! What a wonderful way to end a fabulous term.
Here are some student recounts of Showcase:
On Friday after we did the role, we went into the other classroom to get ready for the year 4 showcase. We grabbed our laptops and went to 4C.
My group was in the corner of the room and had to finish setting up our table before the parents came in at 9-9:15am. It was a bit nerve wracking seeing all the parents waiting outside.
Suddenly I looked up and the room was full of people talking, laughing and asking questions. The only problem being in the corner was that people from the table next to my table was half standing in front of my table, but the bonus was we had a cupboard full of paper, tape and other things behind us.
The year ones came and then the year twos came with their pen pals. Someone in my group had a sibling in year 2 and all of her friends (like 8 people) plus their pen pals came to our table and it was so crowded!!
We then had recess and after that the preps came. A lot of preps came to my stall and played the game. It was weird going from explaining in detail to saying things in a simpler way. After the preps came the 5's and 6's came, and they were a bit more interested in my sway about the circulatory system. Overall, I enjoyed the day but was happy it was over, and I could relax after school.

On Friday morning at 9:00am the whole year 4 had our Showcase. Everyone was excited and a little nervous. So, everyone got ready at 9:15 and the parents came in. Everyone saw their parents, all of the parents loved what we did. All of the parents saw all of the sways, models, posters and their kids.
After the parents left, we had a 10 min break. Everyone got all set up again then the year 1 came in they were impressed, and we had a lot of customers. My favourite bit about it was the year 2’s. Everyone had an amazing time, and our buddies were there.

On Friday 21st of June, we had our year 4 showcase, every group in Year 4 had a BIG QUESTION and our groups [group 2] [Sienna, Teage, Eva and Zoe] is, WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR EXPOZED IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES FOR TOO LONG? I didn't know how I was going to show my Sway presentation, since I only had 1 chair to work with. But luckily, I came up with a plan that was to put my laptop on the chair, so when the kids came, I would kneel down next to the chair and tell them about my Circulatory System Sway.
Then suddenly the parents came inside. Luckily my mum and dad came, so I showed them my Sway, poster and games. Then they left, suddenly the Year 1's came inside, it wasn't hard for them because they just wanted to play the games same with the Year 2's, 3's, 5's, 6's and the preps. But annoyingly a preppy took one of our prizes without asking but anyway..............
I HAD A GREAT DAY!!!

On Friday we did our showcase. When we arrived at school, I was a bit nervous. We had to get our laptops and go to 4C and set up with our group. We only had fifteen minutes until the parents came. There was a lot of noise happening. The parents have arrived to see everybody's good work. When the parents entered, they started looking around. My Mum and Dad came to my station, and they were reading my sway power point. I also showed them my diagram that I made and said this is what happens to your muscle system if you don’t sleep.
When the parents left, we had a ten-minute break until the Year 2’s came with their pen pals from Beaumaris Primary School. We were reading our sway to them and teaching them new things. When the year 2 and pen pals left, we had a break. Until the year 1’s came.
The preps came. We had to read to them they did not understand a thing that we were saying so we had to say words that they understand.
We had fruit break and lunch, and we were so tired!
The end.

On Friday the 21st of June, we had THE SHOWCASE. We had 15mins to prepare our stalls until our parents came. for some this bought challenges but for our group it was fine. Our parents came and stayed from 9:15 to 10:00. At 10:15 the first group of children came it was year 2s, but it was double as confusing as the year 2's pen pals where and then it became triple as confusing as the year ones where late, so they came at the same time. It was a kerfuffle, but we handled it well. The preps came next, and they were so annoying because one person came to my stall O...N...E. Next was year five and six again only one person read my sway and I was getting tired but there was only one left, so I just kept pushing.
The year threes were last but not least. No one saw my sway, but I just didn’t mind anymore, but it was still fun. In conclusion it was fun, but I was still happy for it to be done.

It was 9:00 my heart was pounding because it was Friday, and it was also the day of the year 4 show case I was scared because we only had 15 minutes to set it all up and getting our laptops too.
First the parents came. It was helpful that they knew the what the words meant. And were very proud of us and knew how much effort we put into this.
By the end of the day, it had become boring saying the same thing over and over again. And the lead up to this was stressful. Because we had to make our sway and model and make sure the model didn't
break or fall over. In the end the whole day was very fun telling people about what we have been learning this term.

On Friday morning all year 4 students did the finishing touches for our big project about the human body, we have been working in groups of 4 or 5 with boys and girls in each group. We started setting up on Thursday afternoon and got ready because we knew that our whole school was coming tomorrow. When the music went for getting to our lines, we all came to the year 4 area and sat in our lines. When we were all in our lines we did the role, got ready for our parents or family to come into the classroom to see our showcase.
After the parents came, we had a break and went back to work, the year 1s came first they loved our showcase after they left. The year 2s came and their pen pals were at our school too, so we had extra students come to our projects. It was finally recess we knew it was going to be a long day. The preps came after recess they listened to our sways but didn’t understand some big words but were good. The preps went and it was the year 5/6s came they listened to every word.
It was finally recess and we knew it was going to be a long day. Then we finally had lunch, The last year to come was the year 3s, the year the 3s listened so well because they needed to know some things about the human body for next year. The year threes went, and the school bell rang. All the year 4 students worked so hard for this day and the year 4s did such a good job on this unit of inquiry, the bell went for the end of the day, and we picked up some pieces of rubbish and left the classroom to go home overall it was a great day and the school learnt a lot about the human body. Overall, it was a great day!

It was 21 of June (Friday) and it was the Showcase today.
First in the morning year four had to line up.
When the teachers came out you had to go into your class. You had to put you chair down and do the roll to see who is here and then grab our laptops (for our sway). Then quickly went into 4c where we did our human body Showcase.
We had 5 minutes to quickly set up before the parents came in, which was at 9.15. We got ready quickly, but we didn't have to set up much because we did it mainly yesterday.
It was 9.15 I was so excited parents were everywhere, grandparents, aunties, uncles, mums and dads so many people! We went in groups for our project, and we all showed our sways to our parents or other close people. Then the parents left at 10.00am.
Then we had 5 minutes to set up for the year 2s and their buddies from a different school.
We quickly set up and then they came in there was so many people they mainly did the games. It was very different compared to parents.
Then the year ones came in and they were quit interested in the fun body games and quizzes.
Then after recess was the little preps who loved coming around and looking at our posters. Then the year 5s and 6s came in and were interested in the sways and our diorama which was better and different to the other years.
Then at 1.00pm we finished and after lunch we packed up it was fun but tiring.

On Friday the 21st of June the year 4 students took part in a Showcase about the human body. We each got to pick a different system/part to focus on, some including: the respiratory, circulatory, skeletal, digestive, muscular and nervous systems.
Before that happened, we needed to get prepared for the big day. We made Microsoft Sways on our computers, posters about what our focus was and models of our systems to educate the visitors.
On the morning of the day everyone was bursting with excitement and energy. The second the bell went, and the doors opened everyone ran as fast as they could to get their laptops and supplies. tons of kids were running to and from classrooms until they were 100% ready.
Sooner or later the first group of visitors came to our showcase, they were our parents and they stayed for roughly 15 minutes until the grade 1's and 2's started pilling in. Then we had some well-deserved recess before we got back to work. After recess we had the preps come in with the year 6's, 5's and 3's after that.
Everything about the day was excellent but my overall favourite was when the preps came in because we didn’t need to explain anything in much detail because they wouldn’t understand which means less work for us.
Thank you, y\Year 4 teachers, for organising this fun experience, all of the year 4 students that participated extremely enjoyed the day!

On Friday morning at school all of year 4 was getting ready for the Human Body Showcase. We needed to move fast because the parents of most of the year level were coming. All of the people who worked really hard I think they accomplished a massive achievement. Work smarter not harder and I think that is a cool achievement. The rest of the day the preps, year 1, year 2, year 3, year 5, and year 6 came to our group. We had 72 people to come to see our Showcase. This is the most fun I have ever had with an assignment. I hope we have more assignments like this.
Something about the assignment was fun but a little intense but most of the time it was good. The poster: we were meant to trace me, but I came up with an idea, 'why don't I just do it myself?'. So I took on the challenge of tracing my body with the help of my dad. The hard part of doing a poster about the Circulatory system is the heart. Good thing we have a printer so I can just print out the heart easy peasy lemon squeezy. The next thing I needed to do was do all the lines of the veins and blood vessels, those were the easy things to do and with help of my handy markers.

Last Friday we had our year 4 Human Body Showcase, we have been preparing for this for weeks making posters games sways and so much more. On the day we were all so excited but a little bit nervous.
We were sorted out into groups of 4 or 5 everyone in the group did a different system like the digestive system, respiratory, muscular, skeletal, nervous system and a few other unusual ones. Our first visitors were parents, grandparents even older siblings, they understood a lot of it and had a few goes at the games. They stayed for about 45 minutes.
The next year level was year 2's and year 1's. They were definitely louder and crazier, but they loved the games and posters. After all of the year 2's and 1's had come we had recess which was much needed. After recess the preps came, they were so cute and LOVED the games it was practically he only thing they wanted to do! But they were surprisingly well behaved.
After the preps the year 5's came they were super rowdy and loved the throwing games! The year 6's came while the year 5's were there they were the exact same but a little quieter. After lunch the year 3's came they were so good at learning, listening and being quiet.
After everyone left, we picked up some rubbish and sat down. We were exhausted!

On Friday the 21st of June the year 4's had a Showcase about the human body. And the parents came to see first then the whole school. And we all had groups, my group was: Hugo, Jake, Ari and Lillyann. The main things we learned about the human body are the: Digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, skeletal system and the muscular system.
My group made a game called the concussion game. It’s where you throw a ball in a box, and you get three tries and if you don’t get any in you get to hit the target/ it's very easy. After the parents then the year ones then the twos and threes, then it was snack. After snack the preps they took a long time, and we had fruit break. And we played memory tag that took us all the way into lunch.
After that the year fives and sixes came and all of them were crowding my group basically everyone's group. Everyone had a question and ours was what would happen if you had too many concussions? And we needed to answer it. Our answer was... nothing because there are more than 1 answers, but I can name one it is: your brain would swell, and you would have brain damage.
Then we needed to pack up and we could keep anything that was in our group, and we had permission to keep from other groups. Then we had free time and got to play some games! It was so much fun! 🔴🟠🟠🟡🟢🔵🟣💚

The day had started off to a great start but an embarrassing start because my mum was the first customer to come to our stall who had me, Abby, Logan and Rebeca.
We had a really good cardboard poster and another really good one, but it was made it was made out of paper. On the cardboard poster there was an image of all of the bones in the human body on the poster which took us a very long time on the computer and a very long-time printing.
Our second customers were Rebecca’s parents, they were really close to guessing hard question, which was how many bones a baby has, Rebecca’s mum’s answer was 350 which was not far off but not correct. Then Rebecca’s dad had a go and guessed 290 which is pretty close and not correct but it was really close so I will count it. The day finished off really well and everyone had a great time and all the games and information that was at each groups’ stalls were amazing.

On Friday the 21st of June the grade 4's had their showcase about the human body, the teachers organized 4A, 4B and 4C into groups and we all had to agree on one question for the group to study on, my question was "What happens if you don't get enough sleep?" We all worked on a poster and a ghmodel. On the day of the Showcase, we all got set up and then the parents started to fill the room up and everyone was telling the parents about what they learned. After the parents left grade by grade came in. Overall, the day was really fun, and I can't wait for our next showcase.

On Friday the 21st of June we were presenting our Human Body Showcase!
We set up tables and posters the day before. When we got to school on Friday, we were mostly excited about presenting our dioramas, games, posters and Sways. We rushed into 4C. Our parents were coming first!
Our parents were really enjoying the showcase. Then some other year levels came like the Preps! A Prep came to Lillian's game. Lillian was in my group. You play the game by throwing a ball into a blue hole from a distance. But the Prep walked up to the hole and dropped it in the hole. I loved presenting. By Hugo 4C

On Friday the21st of June the year 4s (me) had a show case on the human body. We all got into groups, and I was in a group with Arie, Aya, Jack and Hugo. The system I did research on was the nervous system. I made a sway and 2 concussion games because my group's question was what happens if you get too many concussions. Our first visitors were our parents\ family. My dad and grandma came to see the Showcase. We had plenty of parents at our stall and they were all interested. Next came the year ones and twos. They all loved are games and sways as well as everyone else's. After that we had recess, and I was already exhausted. When recess was over the preps came. They were ADORABLE! They very much enjoyed themselves and we had a line forming for our game. Soon came the year 5s and 6s to see the show case. It was easier to explain things to them since there older. Though still they enjoyed everything (including the game). After it was over we had fruit break and played memory tag leading up to lunch on the fake grass. Overall, I think everyone enjoyed themselves and I cannot wait to have more show cases in the future (also known as next year). ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷🖤🩶🤍🤎
