Old Fashioned Dress-Up Day
Last Tuesday, as part of our current Unit of Inquiry, ‘Where We Are in Place and Time’, the Preps had an Old-Fashioned Dress Up Day. The children experienced what it was like to go to school in the olden days by wearing old fashioned clothes such as long skirts, vests, shawls, braces and hats.
They loved playing many old-fashioned games and activities throughout the day, such as writing on chalk boards, playing with marbles, knuckles/jacks, snakes and ladders, and board games.
The Preps enjoyed skipping ropes, yo-yos, quoits and elastics. It was fun learning the old rhymes school children used to sing while playing elastics. We also sang some old-fashioned Nursery Rhymes such as Incy Wincy Spider, I’m a Little Teapot and Little Jack Horner.
