What we've been up to in our garden
It's C-trus time!
We picked and ate all of our sweet Navel Oranges from the school garden and started eating Clementine Mandarins. The lemons have been juiced for the lemonade, together with limes and lemons donated by Pajovic and Tempes families. That's why we called it 'limonade'.
Juice from our seedless Valencia Oranges, lemons and Rough Lemons has been turned into citrus jelly using agar agar powder. What is Rough Lemon? It's a rare lemon variety that looks like an orange on the outside, however, it tastes very sour and lemony. We could say, it's a lemon pretending to be the orange.
The lemon rind was used to make candied lemon peel - delicious way to zero waste approach.
St Anthony's Garden Veggie Slice
What a fabulous potato harvest we had! The baked rosemary potato wedges are hands down the most popular dish amongst the students.
We picked our last carrots, zucchini, yellow beans, potatoes, and added frozen spinach from our garden to make veggie slices. It was a great way to celebrate the end of summer veg season as well as our St Anthony's Feast Day.
