Chinese Incursion
An introduction to the rich history of Chinese Medicine
On 13 June, Year 11 and 12 Chinese students had the opportunity to host Dr. Hua Cao, a Chinese traditional medicine practitioner who introduced us to the fascinating world of Chinese medicine and its rich history. She was able to share her knowledge of traditional Chinese healing and how it is different to western medicine. Along with the benefits and background we learnt about different herbs used in Chinese medicine, some of which Dr Cao brought in for us to experience. We learnt about practices such as acupuncture and cupping and the benefits of using these techniques. Dr Cao even performed a demonstration of both acupuncture and cupping on some of our students who volunteered. It was very interesting to see how Chinese medicine is performed and learn about how it was created 2,200 years ago. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Cao for taking the time to share her knowledge with us.
