From the Principal

This is the final newsletter for Term 2, and I would like to extend my thanks to all the students and staff who have taken the additional time to share or celebrate the work and events they have participated in during the term.

Our music students have been exceptionally active this year. We have already had two camps attended by various ensembles, all of which had been rehearsing diligently for our Mid-year Concert celebrations. Last week’s concerts were very enjoyable, showcasing the progress of our many of our beginner Year 7s in their novice bands and seeing many overcome their nerves to deliver outstanding performances. It was especially great to see so many students involved in the choirs.

All year levels have been completing end-of-unit assessment tasks. Our Year 11 students had a very successful exam period, and our teachers have been busy providing feedback across all year levels on CATs to end many Semester subjects. Tomorrow afternoon, our Year 9 Semester 1 City School classes will be presenting their research to students and families. It will wonderful to hear them discuss the skills they've developed through their involvement.

Our teachers greatly appreciated the Feedback, Assessment, and Reporting Day yesterday, which allowed them to finalise reports before the holiday break. The day also coincided with the General Achievement Test (GAT) for most of our senior students.

Given the busy term for our senior students, the Destress Day a fortnight ago was a much-needed break. They enjoyed a variety of activities, music, and food trucks with their tutors. Congratulations to our Senior Captains and Senior Sub School for organising this event.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Talkfest event tomorrow. We would love for more people to attend, as funds raised will go to our Thrive funds to support students and programs run by the school.

During House Connect, our students have been developing proposals for programs or equipment that they would like to see around the school. Our Thrive Committee will meet shortly to consider the various projects and allocate funding for the top 10 Shark Tank proposals and we are looking forward to seeing some of these ideas come to life.
