VET Subjects

Exploring the impressive facilities at NCAT

Last week we took a bus load of Year 9 and 10 students interested in applying for a VET Subject in 2025 to visit one of our most popular VET Host Schools: NCAT (the Northern College of Arts and Technology) in Preston.

It was wonderful to hear from NCAT’s Principal and other leading teachers about all they have to offer our students. We heard about recent highlights including one of our NHS students receiving an almost perfect score of 49 in VET Dance; recent VET Engineering graduates who proceeded the following year to study Engineering at University or enter a highly paid apprenticeship; NCAT’s Women in Trades initiative and recent awards NCAT have received recognising their outstanding quality of teaching.

Check out our photos to see just some of NCAT’s impressive facilities. Photos show NCAT’s Carpentry, Automotive and Musical Instrument Making workshops; Sound Production, Dance and Visual Arts studios and work by NCAT’s Fashion students. These represent only a portion of the VET subjects on offer to our Year 10-12 students by NCAT and our other VET Host School partners (including Melbourne Polytechnic, Parade College and many more).

VET Updates

Last week we released our new ONLINE VET Application Form. We hope our new online form makes it easier for families to apply for VET Subjects for 2025. NMVC also released their updated 2025 NMVC Handbook. We are excited to see new and updated VET subjects on offer to our students by NMVC member schools including Conservation and Ecosystems Management, Fitness, Health Services Assistance, Music (Composition and Creation), Permaculture, Retail Cosmetics, Rural Operations (Urban Agriculture Focus), Screen and Media (Games Development) and Small Business Operations and Innovation.
