Year 12 Parent / Teacher Interviews and Student Academic Reports

On Tuesday 9 April, the Semester 1 Reports on students of Year 12 will be available online to parents/carers via the TASS Parent Lounge.

The Year 12 Parent/Teacher interviews will be scheduled for the evening of Thursday 11 April from 3:40 PM to 9:00 PM. Parents/carers may book interview time slots themselves via the TASS Parent Lounge using the interview tab from 9:00 AM, Friday 29 March. The College will not be allocating interview times. Parents/carers need to ensure interviews are booked by no later than 9:00 AM, Tuesday 9 April.

All interviews will be conducted on site. Interviews are for six minutes only. There is a 2-minute break between each interview to allow the interviews to run smoothly. Please note that parents/carers cannot double book a teacher for a longer interview. Should more interview time be required, parents/carers may arrange with the teacher another mutually suitable time.

There is an expectation that parents/carers will book interviews with all of their sons’ teachers. There is also an expectation that students are present for the interviews.

For parents/carers encountering difficulties logging on to the TASS Parent Lounge, please contact the College’s IT Department via College Reception on 02 9763 1000.

If for any reason a parent/carer needs to cancel or change a booked interview time after 9:00 AM Tuesday 9 April, please contact the relevant teacher.

The Semester 1 Report is an opportunity for parents/carers to discuss their sons’ progress but more importantly to discuss strategies and recommendations in preparing for HSC assessments and examinations over the next two school terms.

I would like to encourage all Year 12 students to use their time wisely during the upcoming Easter and term breaks and not let the time pass without having done substantial preparation for the second term assessments, the Trial HSC and HSC examinations. This is a very important time for Year 12 students to constructively assess their progress thus far and to make the necessary adjustments and effort in preparation for a very demanding year ahead. Perhaps time not only to get on top of the work but also to get ahead.

Year 7 Science Experiments

Last Friday, our Science class was full of scientific exploration as we embarked on two experiments. The first of these was a solubility test, where we tested if substances could dissolve in water. This was a fun and engaging activity, where we discovered the intriguing nature of substances around us. The next experiment was the density test. This test involved us filling test tubes using pipettes with variety of coloured solutions, each of which contained different amounts of sugar, this resulted in a fantastic display of the principle of density, where the colours stacked on top of each other. The reason for this scientific marvel is because the denser liquids sink to the bottom, as they have more particles, the opposite goes for the less dense liquids. This lesson enriched and further excelled our understanding of natural Science and sparked a curiosity in all of us for the marvellous world of Science.
