Grade 3 & 4

Term 1 - Week 7

How wonderful to see everyone return from the Long Weekend with many stories of family time, quiet time, ways to avoid the heat and mini trips away.

We were very lucky to have Emma Kealy, Member for Lowan, Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Mental Health speak to our students yesterday. She was pivotal in running a mini session on ‘Law making’ and the levels of government in our country and how your vote counts. Linking to our current Inquiry unit of Civics and Citizenship.

Emma was very keen for our kids to go away with an appreciation of how our community helps in times of need (BlazeAide and recent fire support) and how to talk to someone if you need help. It was a great learning experience- hopefully it instils a passion for some of our students to become amazing politicians one day.

This week across our school the grade 3 and 5 students have been actively participating in NAPLAN. Our students have shown a great openness to having a go, working in test conditions, with breaks (if needed) and are using great skills to ask questions and remain on task throughout. They are doing an amazing job.

Next week is our Athletic Sports on Friday, with preparations well on the way during Sport and in the yard at play and lunch time. We are witnessing students jumping, running, passing drink bottles as if they are relay batons. We hope everyone enjoys the experience.

A final word of thanks to families and the kids for the effort, time and dedication in completing the homework each week. A big pat on the back to you all.
