Fantastic End to Term 1

We have made it to the end of the term! I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our students, staff and families for a wonderful start to the 2024 school year. We have had a very busy term with many wonderful events and many more planned for next term. Be sure to follow our Facebook page for news on the exciting events happening at our school and updates of upcoming activities.

Easter Hat Parade

Our annual Easter Eggstravaganza was an eggtraordinary day filled with incredible hats, dioramas and scrumptious picnic food provided by the canteen. Thank you to the wonderful P&C for donating delicious chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnies. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all students who participated. Thank you to Miss Edwards and the staff for their organisation of the wonderful day.

Super Swimmers

Congratulations to our sensational swimmers for representing Merrylands Parramatta PSSA at the recent Sydney West Swimming Carnival. Special mention to April, Aayden and Ahin who competed at the NSW PSSA Swimming Championships. Congratulations to April who came 2nd in the 50m Freestyle and Aayden who made it to the finals for 50m Freestyle. Good luck to Ahin who is competing tomorrow.

Harmony day

At Dundas Public School, each and every family belongs. I value the cultural diversity of our school and the rich learning that comes from having students from different language backgrounds. As part of our Harmony Week celebrations, students have been discussing the theme of "Everyone Belongs" and what that looks like in terms of respect, understanding & inclusiveness at our school. I would like to thank Mrs Benco and Mrs Tauok for their efforts in organising a wonderful Harmony Day for our students.

NAPLAN 2024

2024 NAPLAN for Year 3 and Year 5 students is now complete. Thank you to Ms Chan and Mr McSeveny for coordinating NAPLAN this year as well as the teaching staff. Congratulations and well done to all students who participated in NAPLAN, especially Year 3 for completing their first NAPLAN. We look forward to receiving the school and student results later in the year.

ANZAC Day

On Friday 12th April, Dundas Public School will hold the ANZAC Day assembly where we

acknowledge all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars,

conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and sacrifice of all those

who have served. We will have the honour of Mr Bryan West, Secretary of the

Parramatta RSL SUB -Branch speaking at the assembly and we will hear about his

sacrificial service to our country. Thank you to Mr McSeveny and Mr Dean for their

organisation and involvement in this commemorative assembly and to our student

leaders who will be leading the whole school in the service of remembrance. Parents are welcome to join the assembly at 10 am in the school hall.

Staffing Update

As you are already aware, Mr Yee has been fulfilling a relieving principal role for Term 1 at Rydalmere Public School and has been doing such a fantastic job in this position that he will be continuing as relieving principal until Term 4. Mr Raven has been a wonderful addition to our school this term while Mr Yee has been at Rydalmere PS. Mr Raven will be leaving us at the end of week 1, term 2 to embark on a pre-planned adventurous trip around Australia. We thank the dedication and commitment Mr Raven has displayed this year to the students of 6 Wallu-mil and we wish him safe travels on his adventure around Australia.

We would like to welcome Mr Waters to Dundas Ps who will be teaching 6 Wallu-mil for the remainder of the year. Mr Waters is an experienced Stage 3 teacher who is familiar with our school, curriculum and students. To assist with a detailed handover, Mr Waters will work with Mr Raven in the first week of term 2.

Unfortunately, we need to say farewell to Mrs Campbell due to changes in her personal circumstances for the remainder of the year. We look forward to seeing her back next year. We would like to welcome Ms Barnett to Dundas Public school. Ms Barnett is an experienced K-2 teacher with a strong understanding of the new curriculum. She has spent the remainder of this week with Mrs Campbell for a smooth handover to ensure she has a deep understanding of student learning progress. Mrs Taouk will continue to teach the class on the other days of the week.

Share our Space

Share Our Space is a program that reflects our commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality education facilities. Our schools are designed to be welcoming and inclusive and the Share Our Space program helps us go even further in ensuring everyone can benefit from these facilities.

This school holiday break we will not be open due to Camp Australia Rocketeers school holiday program.

RSVP Mother’s Day Breakfast

The staff of Dundas PS would like to invite our student's mothers to a  Mother's Day Breakfast on Friday, 10th May 2024. The breakfast event will be held in the school hall from 8am - 8:45am. If a child's mum is not able to make it, they are more than welcome to bring along another significant person in their life such as a grandmother, aunt or friend. Please RSVP for catering purposes by scanning the QR code by the end of this week (Friday, 12th April 2024).

Opportunity Class

Applications for Year 5 opportunity class placement in 2025 open 4 April and close 20 May 2024. Opportunity classes are an important way for us to support high-potential and gifted students. It's important we let parents and carers know they need to apply for Year 5 opportunity class placement while their children are in Year 4. The tests will be held in designated government high school test centres or other facilities. Please see additional information below.

Proud of You Postcards

Proud of You postcards are special notes sent to students through the mail to acknowledge positive behaviours such as kindness, school citizenship, being a good sport, effort in learning etc. This term we invited students to design new Proud of You postcards. We are excited to reveal the new designs chosen by the staff at DPS.

Congratulations to the Stage 2 winning design by Emma in 3/4B and the Stage 3 winning design by Joey in 6G. We agree that these new designs look fantastic!

P&C Working Bee

The Parents and Citizens' (P&C) Association is requesting your generous help at Dundas Public school for their P&C working bee on Saturday 13 April 2024 anytime between 1pm to 4pm.

Please join them for a fun afternoon, whether you can attend for 30 minutes or an hour or 2. Kids can help out as well, so bring along the whole family. Helpers are welcome anytime between 1pm and 4pm. When you arrive at Dundas PS, please go to the COLA to sign in and receive your fun task! Holidays & Return to School

Have a wonderful holiday break. Whatever the break looks like for your family we hope you have a safe holiday period and enjoy that special time with your children at home. We look forward to seeing all of our students back safe and sound on Tuesday 30th April, 2024 ready for term 2.
