Foundation: Connect

Weeks 8 and 9

What a term!

The Foundation students have been incredible for their very FIRST term of school! What a great achievement! They have adapted to routines and school life so well. We could not be any prouder. Well done students and to you, their families on a fantastic term.

Parent Helpers

Starting from next term, the Foundation Team will organise a roster for Parent Helpers to assist in the classroom. Here, you'll have the opportunity to practise one-on-one literacy skills with the children, aiding in their development and growth.

A roster will also be organised for Kitchen and Garden, working with the children and Mr. Marco in our cooking classes.

*Please note, a current Work with Children Check is required for all Parent Helpers.

Learning Reflection – Literacy and Numeracy

By the end of term we will have learnt 12 letters, which is an amazing effort! Students have learnt and will continue to consolidate the letters and sounds of s/a/t/p/i/n/b/l/f/u/m/r. Students are understanding how to form simple verbal sentences, ensuring they include the 'who' and the 'what'.

Next term, we will begin to learn how to write full sentences using basic CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) words, and including the use of 'Heart Words'.

In Numeracy will continue to use manipulatives to support our learning. During the term we will begin to learn about measurement and data.

Fancy Hat Parade!

Holiday Hints

If you would like to continue learning over the holidays our online platforms (Wushka, Literacy and Mathletics) are always great to consolidate learning. Additionally, our decodable reading sheets have been sent home for practise and students will have a few take-home books. To make it fun they can write heart words in the sand at the beach or in the sandpit! Have fun with the learning! The local library is always a great source for extra reading material for enjoyment.

We hope everyone has a really relaxing break and we look forward to seeing everyone next term.Well done and thank you for your ongoing support.
