Student Resource Scheme - Notice of Meeting
The 2026 proposed SRS will be discussed at the November meeting of The Gap State High School P&C Association – Monday, 10 November 2025.
Student Resource Scheme
The Gap State High School operates a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) to provide parents with a cost effective alternative to purchasing textbooks and/or resources elsewhere. The scheme ensures that students have the resources required for them to engage with the curriculum for their education and saves parents time and money in sourcing the prescribed materials elsewhere. Savings are gained through the school’s bulk purchasing practices and hiring arrangements.
Participation in the scheme is voluntary, however it is a proven cost-effective way for families to provide resources for students to study in the curriculum. If you elect not to join the scheme, you will need to provide all necessary textbooks, resources and materials for your child to engage with the curriculum.
The SRS is reviewed annually to ensure resources are applicable to the current subject offerings across the year levels and to ensure we have accurate pricing (may be subject to price changes). The proposed SRS for the upcoming year is provided to the P&C Association and tabled for discussion.
Chappy Breakfast – Wednesday, 5 November 2025
We’re excited to invite our students to enjoy a delicious Chappy Breakfast on Wednesday, 5 November, from 8:00am to 8:40am at The Gap State High School.
The Chappy Breakfast is a wonderful way for students to start their day, sharing food, laughter, and connection with friends before classes begin. This event is proudly supported by our school chaplaincy team and contributes to building a caring, inclusive community that values student wellbeing.
We encourage all students to come along, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy a positive start to their morning.

Host an International Student This November: We’re looking for host families who can welcome Japanese high school students from November 1st to 6th for a short 5-day stay.
At The Gap State High School, we are currently seeking welcoming families to join our International Homestay Program and host students from countries such as China, South Korea, Brazil, and Thailand. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage in cultural exchange, support a young person’s educational journey, and make lasting connections.
By hosting an international student, you will have the opportunity to share your culture, help them settle into life in Australia, and be part of their exciting school experience. Hosting is not only rewarding for the student but also for you and your family, as you gain insight into another culture and form a meaningful relationship that lasts far beyond their stay.
We are looking for families who offer warmth, care, and a safe environment, where the focus is on supporting students as they adapt to life in Australia.
Key Details:
- Weekly Allowance: $369 (to assist with hosting costs)
- Duration: 1 month to 3 years
- Age Range: 14-17 years
Countries of Origin: China, South Korea, Brazil, Thailand
If you are interested in becoming a homestay family and providing a caring environment for an international student, we’d love to hear from you!
For more information and to apply, please contact Emi, our International Homestay Coordinator, at (07) 35113877 / 0499765434 or esuzu0@eq.edu.au.

Support for 2026 School Camp Costs – Saver Plus Program
The Gap State High School is pleased to share a valuable opportunity for families through Saver Plus, a government-funded matched savings and financial education program delivered by The Smith Family.
As many families begin planning for next year’s schooling or prepare to transition into new stages of education, Saver Plus is here to help manage the associated costs. The program supports eligible families with school-related expenses through matched savings and free financial education workshops.
Saver Plus
Saver Plus is a government-funded financial inclusion program that supports eligible participants with up to $500 in matched savings to help cover their child’s education costs. Alongside the financial support, participants gain valuable budgeting skills that contribute to long-term financial well-being.
As families prepare for new school year levels, Saver Plus can assist with a wide range of education-related expenses, including:
- Devices and technology
- Excursions and camps
- Subject-specific resources
- And many other approved costs
Families can also enquire directly by calling 1300 610 355 or by clicking the ‘Enquire Now’ button on The Smith Family website under the Saver Plus financial literacy program. A Savings Coach will then be in touch for a friendly chat.
