Acting Principal's Message

It has been a wonderful few weeks at our school as we celebrate student achievements, welcome new faces, and continue planning for an exciting year ahead.

Cricket Blast Fun- Our students had a fantastic time participating in the Cricket Blast program last week. It was wonderful to see everyone showing teamwork, encouragement, and resilience on the field. These are the same qualities we aim to build in all areas of school life — giving our best effort, supporting one another, and demonstrating respect in everything we do. A big thank you to our staff who helped make the day such a success!

Prep 2026 Transition – First Session- This week we were delighted to welcome our 2026 Prep students and families for their very first transition session. The children did an excellent job exploring the prep/1 classroom, meeting teachers, and beginning to form new friendships. We were especially proud to see how confidently they practised our school values — respect, resilience and responsibility — right from the start. Our transition program will continue over the coming weeks, helping our newest learners feel connected and ready for the exciting journey ahead.

Focusing on Positive Behaviour- Across the school, we’ve been reinforcing what it means to show school-appropriate behaviours in the classroom, playground, and beyond. This includes being respectful to others, following instructions, using kind words, and taking responsibility for our actions. Our staff have been recognising students who consistently make positive choices, and it’s been fantastic to see so many students modelling our expectations. Together, we’re continuing to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone can learn and thrive. As fatigue builds, it is important to continue to practice these appropriate behaviours until the end of the school year.

Farewell and Best Wishes to Miss McCombe- We would like to share that Miss McCombe will be heading to a new school next year for 12 months to continue her professional learning journey. While we will certainly miss her positive energy, dedication, and the wonderful relationships she has built with students and staff, we are very proud of her commitment to ongoing growth and development. This opportunity will allow her to gain new experiences and bring fresh ideas back to our school community in the future. On behalf of everyone, we thank Miss McCombe for all she has contributed and wish her every success in the year ahead.

Farewell and Best Wishes to Miss Sciascia- We would also like to share that Miss Sciascia has secured a position at a Secondary School. She is going on to learn about a new school system, to broaden her teaching repertoire and build relationships with an older cohort of students. We know we will miss her bright personality and connections she has made with families, staff and students here at George Street. We thank her for her contributions to evolving our school and wish her success for 2026.

Planning for 2026- As the end of the year approaches, we are busy planning for 2026 — finalising staffing, class structures, and programs that will continue to strengthen learning outcomes and wellbeing for all students. To help us plan effectively, please let the office know if your family’s enrolment details are changing for next year.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Our shared commitment to high expectations, positive behaviour, and community makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.
