Faith in Action Team Update – Socktober & Christmas Giving

Dear Parents and Carers,

What an incredible few weeks it has been! Our Socktober fundraising has continued to grow thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our students and families. With just a few days left to go, I am thrilled to share that our school community has already raised an amazing $1582 to support children in Zambia through Catholic Mission.

Every dollar raised helps provide access to education, healthcare and opportunities for children in need. 

The SRC leaders have been tasked with making a sock ball out of recycled materials and bringing it into their classes to play with. Many children in Zambia and around the world play with a ball just like this because they cannot afford to buy real soccer balls - even Pope Francis did as a boy in Argentina. This has been a humbling way for our students to live out their faith through action while we teach them empathy. 

Please note that we still have a few more days to get involved in this initiative. It’s not too late to donate via QKR!

👏 A special shout-out to Year 3, who continue to lead the way in donations — and to every student who has joined in, no matter the amount. Every contribution makes a difference together!

🎄 Looking Ahead – Our Christmas Faith in Action

As we approach the Christmas season, we’re excited to share a few upcoming initiatives where students can continue to bring their faith to life through acts of kindness and generosity. Please keep an eye out for the notes through Compass over the next few weeks, here is a sneak peak at what’s to come:

Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6): Operation Christmas Child - Samaritan’s Purse 

Students will be packing a box filled with gifts for children in need. Each box will be filled with small toys, school supplies, hygiene items and love. This is a tangible way to share the joy of Christ with children across the world for communities in need. More details to come soon.

Kindy to Year 4: Vinnies Christmas DriveStudents will have the opportunity to buy and donate a small gift for a child in need within our local community, supporting families who may be doing it tough this Christmas. A list of appropriate ideas will be detailed via Compass also.

Whole School: Christmas Cards for Our Elderly Neighbours Students will also be invited to create handmade Christmas cards for the residents at Cardinal Gilroy Nursing Home, sharing messages of love, hope and joy this Advent season.
