Feast of All Saints

As we approach the Feast of All Saints on November 1st, we pause to honour the extraordinary lives of those who lived in faith and showed us how to follow Christ with courage and love.

Saints inspire us through their example, teaching us lessons that guide our daily lives as members of our Catholic school community.

I believe that each day we are in the presence of everyday saints, those quietly living faith-filled lives around us. Their witness challenges us to grow in holiness and compassion.

I would like to take this opportunity to spotlight some remarkable saints whose lives offer us practical and spiritual insights:

St Margaret Mary Alacoque

Our patron saint, known for her deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St Margaret Mary teaches us the importance of trusting in God's love and mercy. Despite challenges, she spread the message that Jesus’ heart is full of compassion for each of us. As followers of Christ, we are reminded to open our hearts in kindness and forgiveness, showing God's love to others in our words and actions.

St Joseph

The humble foster father of Jesus, St Joseph models faithfulness, humility and dedication. He quietly cared for Mary and Jesus, trusting in God’s plan without hesitation. St Joseph encourages us to serve others selflessly and to have courage in times of uncertainty. Like him, we can be strong protectors and steady guides in our families and communities.

St Mary MacKillop

Australia’s first saint, St Mary MacKillop, devoted her life to education and caring for those in need, especially children and the poor. Her perseverance in the face of hardship reminds us to stand up for what is right and to show compassion without expecting anything in return. By following her example, we can be witnesses of hope and generosity in our community and beyond.

Saint Carlo Acutis

Carlo’s example is truly inspiring, showing us that even in the midst of a technology era we can be devoted to and spread our faith. He used the internet to spread devotion to the Eucharist, Carlo reminds us how faith and modern life can go hand in hand. His life teaches us that holiness is accessible at every age and through the talents God has given us. We too can use our gifts to share kindness and faith in our everyday lives.

As we celebrate All Saints, let us take time to reflect on these lessons and ask ourselves: How can I live more like these saints today? Their lives encourage us to be loving, faithful, compassionate and courageous followers of Christ.

We will celebrate this special feast with a whole school prayer service at morning assembly on Tuesday 4th November.

May their example strengthen our journey together as a community rooted in faith and love.

With Blessings,

Nancy Kubti
