Celebrating Courage and Growth

This fortnight, we honour our students who have stepped out in courage—true risk-takers in learning and leadership. The Rite Journey celebrations marked a beautiful milestone, with a High Tea for the girls and a BBQ breakfast for the boys, recognising their personal growth. Our student leadership applicants have shown boldness in stepping forward, sharing their vision and values in interviews. Senior students are navigating exams with resilience, and our basketball and cricket teams have embraced challenge and teamwork in matches with local schools.

 

We also celebrated academic excellence at Assembly, recognising students who shone in the Maths Olympiad and the National Spelling Bee. Their achievements remind us that taking risks in learning leads to remarkable outcomes.

 

Risk-taking isn’t about recklessness—it’s about stepping forward with purpose, even when the outcome is uncertain. We’re proud of every student who’s dared to grow.

Unit 2 Biology Excursion – Exploring Conservation and Adaptation at Melbourne Zoo

Our Year 11 Biology students recently enjoyed an engaging and insightful excursion to Melbourne Zoo as part of their Unit 2 studies. The day provided an authentic, hands-on learning experience that connected classroom theory to real-world conservation practices. Students explored the diverse conservation techniques employed by the zoo to protect endangered species of Corrobboree frogs and maintain ecological balance. 

 

A highlight of the day was the visit to the Butterfly House, where students collected primary data on behavioural and structural adaptations. This fieldwork experience will directly support their upcoming studies on adaptations and bioethics, reinforcing their understanding of how living organisms are uniquely suited to their environments and the ethical considerations involved in conservation biology. It was a memorable day of learning, discovery, and connection—bringing biology to life outside the classroom.
