Deputy Principals Report

Mr Brian Edmonds

It’s incredible to think that we have already reached the midway point of the term. Time seems to be passing rapidly, and each week has brought new opportunities for our students to immerse themselves in learning and extra-curricular activities here at Tenterfield High School. As we enter this part of the term assessments and reporting become the central focus in the coming weeks and staff have been working to gather evidence of each student’s growth, achievements, and areas for further development.

Earlier in the term, we enjoyed hosting our ever-popular Grandparents’ Day which is a highlight on our school calendar. This event provided a special opportunity to recognise and honour the invaluable contributions that grandparents and other cherished friends make in the lives of our students. Many visitors joined us for a lunch and trivia afternoon and shared stories, laughter, and connections. The warmth and sense of community felt throughout the day was truly encouraging. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our guests for their participation, and to the staff whose tireless efforts ensured the day ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.

I would also like to take a moment to commend the members of our ProsPER Youth Advisory Group. This important initiative brings together young people from across the Northern Rivers and Tenterfield region, to share their perspectives on programs, policies, and initiatives that affect youth well-being and this information is directly feedback to the NSW State Government. The group focuses on key topics such as mental health, education, and community spaces, and works to ensure that the voices of young people are heard in decision-making processes that shape their lives today and into the future.

Our students’ involvement in the ProsPER Youth Advisory Group has been a wonderful opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, collaborate with others, and contribute to improving youth-focused services and programs. Their commitment to leadership and community connection reflects the values we strive to nurture in all our students, and we are very proud of their efforts.

As we progress into the second half of the term, there are numerous exciting events on the horizon, including various excursions and extracurricular activities planned for the term's conclusion. Our Presentation Day is set for Friday 5 December, during which we will celebrate our students' achievements. We encourage as many families as possible to join us for this special occasion. Let us continue to collaborate, support one another, and celebrate the learning and accomplishments that contribute to making our school a vibrant and welcoming community.
