Level 1

Literacy

In Reading and Writing, Year 1 have been reading and writing persuasive texts. We have been working on using persuasive language to convince our audience. We have been taking on different perspectives and having friendly debates to persuade each other. Year 1 students wrote a persuasive piece on celebrating National Fairy Bread Day. Safe to say, they convinced us and celebrated by making fairy bread! 

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we have been working on identifying, creating, and repeating patterns. Year 1 has been making a variety of patterns using resources in the classroom to demonstrate their thinking. We have also been working on solving money problems by adding and subtracting amounts when 'shopping' for items we would like to 'buy'. 

Inquiry

In Inquiry, Year 1 have been learning about Natural Disasters and how we can help our local community. We have been learning about what services come and help for different natural distasters and what impacts they have on the people, animals, and landscapes in the affected area.
