School Council

Dear Heathmont East Primary School Families,
On behalf of the School Council, I want to sincerely thank you for the support, encouragement and partnership you continue to show our school. Heathmont East Primary School thrives because of the care our families show for their children, for one another, and for our community.
Last week, families received information regarding voluntary contributions for the 2026 school year. We understand that conversations about finances can sometimes feel challenging, and we want to take a moment to explain why these contributions matter, and to acknowledge the pressures many families are managing.
While the Department of Education funds the essential operational needs of government schools, many of the programs, resources and experiences that make HEPS such a vibrant place for children sit outside this core funding. Voluntary contributions help us bridge this gap in a way that directly supports students in their learning, wellbeing and day-to-day school experience.
Your contributions help us provide:
- Warm, engaging learning spaces: Ongoing care and improvement of classrooms, grounds and specialised learning areas that help children feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
- Modern, meaningful resources: Up-to-date learning materials, digital tools and classroom equipment that enrich the learning experience for every child.
- Opportunities to explore and shine: Extracurricular programs and enrichment activities that nurture students’ interests, creativity, leadership and confidence.
- Support for wellbeing and inclusion: Programs and tools that help students build resilience, feel connected and receive added support when they need it.
- Moments that build community: Events and initiatives that bring families together and strengthen the sense of belonging we value so much at HEPS.
We want to emphasise that every contribution—whatever a family is able to give—makes a real and visible difference. These contributions are never taken for granted. They enable opportunities that simply would not exist without community support.
We also recognise that each family’s circumstances are different. Whether you contribute financially, volunteer your time, attend events, or simply show kindness and support to others in our community, we are genuinely grateful. HEPS is the school it is because of the collective effort of many.
Thank you again for everything you do to support our students, our staff and our school community. We wish you and your families a happy and safe festive season, and a wonderful start to 2026 at HEPS.
Warm regards,
Benjamin Gordon
School Council President
