ART
Foundation
During Term 4, Foundation students have been exploring what a landscape is. They have been learning about the concept of foreground, middle ground and background. Foundation has done an amazing job creating their own 'lambscapes.' They have also enjoyed creating 3D monsters where students had the chance to be creative with colour and materials while using their fine motor skills.
Level 1
Level 1 students observed different structures and monuments. They simplified the shape in order to draw them then drew into foam to create a relief print. Some students added a 3D appearance. You may recognise many of these places.
Level 2
Level 2 students have been exploring art in nature. We looked at geodes and then created our own using concentric circles and a variety of art media. Level 2 have also explored 3D sculpture with a focus on pop art. They have had so much fun creating their own 3D donuts using newspaper, plaster and paint.
Level 3
Level 3 created a floral painting where lines and circles were repeated to create drama and cohesion. Students chose a combination of verticle, horizontal and diagonal lines to paint the background and looked at different circular based patterns to create the flowers. They understood that this idea can be transferred to a different themed image.
Level 4
Level 4 students have been exploring abstract art. They have looked at the works of artist Janet Skates and created their own abstract art pieces inspired by her style. They are now working on exploring movement in their art, creating their own 'wet shaking dog' artworks inspired by artist Iris Scott.
Level 5
Level 5 created a layered mixed media collage of a patterned portrait. The background was painted in a coloured random fashion to contrast with the prescribed black and white patterned portrait. Stencils were overlayed to let the background show through.
Level 6
Here is a sneak peek at the level 6 Graduation pieces. These pieces were in three parts: a silhouette, a painted area and text, and needed to show their values, ideas and identity in creative ways.
STEAM News
Thank you for supporting the STEAM program with the supply of boxes and mulberry leaves. Our silkworms are enjoying the regular supply of leaves and their new habitat. We will continue to require mulberry leaves for the next few weeks as our larvae enter their cocoons.
