Exciting News from Heathmont East Primary School's Level 6 Beach Camp!

We are thrilled to share the incredible experiences from our recent Level 6 Beach Camp at Don Bosco, Safety Beach. This camp was packed with thrilling activities and unforgettable moments!

The Adventure Begins!

We gathered at the school gym well before 9:00 am, full of excitement, to drop off our bags and meet our teachers and hug our parents' goodbye.

Then, it was off to Moonlit Sanctuary, where we enjoyed snacks and lunch amid the lush surroundings. Guided walks through the park allowed us to observe and learn about Australia's fascinating mammals and birds. We patted wallabies, touched snakes and interacted with all these amazing Australian animals.

Arrival at Don Bosco Camp! The camp staff welcomed us warmly and briefed us on camp rules and expectations. After settling into our cosy cabins, it was time for some free exploration. There was so much fun to be had during free time such as open rein in the basketball stadium, volleyball, games room with table tennis and foosball tables and just opportunities to talk quietly in our amazing cabins.

The activities came thick, fast and they were so much fun. It is difficult to list them all but here we go!

Night Walk: After a delicious dinner, our teachers organised a thrilling night walk along the beach. The sound of the waves and the sunset sky made it a magical experience with jelly-fish, sand, wet feet and waves.

Time with Camp Leaders: Our energetic camp leaders entertained us with cooperation games. From racing rafts over a "lava pit" to playing a lively game of Family Feud, we embodied teamwork and made relationships we wouldn’t usually have made. Gaga Ball and other camp classic activities were freely available all of the time.

Sea Kayaking: Under the guidance of qualified instructors, we paddled into the bay. Despite the chilly water, we had immense fun learning to paddle and steer our kayaks with the wind and the spray in our eyes.

Life Saver Beach Games: Down at the beach, much like the Nippers and life savers do, we tumbled in the sand in friendly competition. There was the exciting ‘Where’s My Chicken’ where we had to steal a ball from a camp leader while freezing in the sand. If you moved you had to go back to the start.

Movie Night: We set up our sleeping bags and pillows in the cosy auditorium to watch "Frozen 2," complete with snacks and laughter.

Tree Surfing & Adventure Maze: Our daring students took on tree surfing and navigated through the adventure maze, testing their skills and courage. Some also slid down these amazing slides which brought a smile to all out faces. All the kids were very brave at tree surfing as heights can be very challenging for some people. Congratulations to everybody for stepping out of their comfort zone.

Finally, thank you to everyone who made this camp possible. Thank you to the parents for bringing up such amazing children, with whom we were able to share so much fun and so many growth-filled moments. We came back with stories of adventure, friendship, and happy smiles.

Warm regards,

All the staff and students who attended the Heathmont East Primary School's Level 6 Beach Camp!
