Wow!

What a week!

In the midst of all the rain, it was great to see wonderful teaching and learning still happening across every classroom. It was also excellent to see the resilience of our students, who pushed through the gloomy weather and embraced the week with joy and determination.

A big thank you to everyone for ensuring your children were on time and present for school photos. It was lovely to see everyone dressed smartly in their best uniforms. The rain certainly made things tricky, but we pushed through and managed to get some beautiful shots. In fact, there was only a 10-minute window in the day when the rain paused, so we quickly made our way out and took a whole school photo in front of the Homestead, continuing a special tradition that has spanned over 30 years. We are looking forward to you all seeing the results and thanks again for your support.

Rain is often seen as a sign of renewal and nourishment. Just as the land needs rain to grow, our lives, physically, emotionally, and spiritually need ongoing renewal. We are reminded in Isaiah 40:31 that “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Whether it’s a tough week of weather or even a tough season of life, we all need moments to pause, be replenished, and be reminded of the hope we have in God, in each other and in the bright futures of our children.

The same way God can bring renewal to our lives, sometimes our kids can also give us a fresh perspective. One of the things I like to do in my spare time is play golf, although it doesn’t happen much these days. It’s very easy on the course to get frustrated when I hit a ball the wrong way, miss a putt, etc! I took my four year old golfing recently and seeing her pure enjoyment for riding in the cart, eating snacks, hitting a few golf balls and packing away her little clubs, gave me a new outlook on the game. The example is not quite perfect, but sometimes our kids can bring renewal to our spirits and help us to have a new perspective on a particular activity or season in life. There is a beauty when we get to see the way our kids view the world. It’s this childlike enjoyment or faith in how we view life that I certainly need reminding of sometimes.

Perhaps, a week like this with constant rain reminds us of the beauty of persistence, the gift of community, and the importance of gratitude in small things.

Lateness Reminder

As the mornings get colder, we’ve noticed a few more students arriving late. A gentle reminder that learning begins immediately when students arrive. Some families may assume the first part of the day is slow-paced, this isn’t the case. Our students go straight into literacy groups and structured learning right from the bell. Being even 5-10 minutes late each day can cause students to miss valuable learning and create disruption to the class. Please do your best to have your children at school on time—thank you for your continued support in this.

Sport This Week

Girls Soccer: Next week’s game will proceed as scheduled but at a new venue. Students will now play at Kareela Sporting Complex, 441 Princes Highway, Kareela. Parents planning to attend, please take note of this change. Students are still required to arrive at school by 7:30am on Monday morning.

Cross Country: A reminder that the Cross Country event for Years 2–6 will be held on Tuesday. We encourage all students to wear their house shirts on the day to show their team spirit.

All the Best, Mrs Robson!

Today we farewelled Mrs Robson, who is beginning her maternity leave. We are praying for her and her husband as they prepare to welcome their little one. May God bless them with peace, safety, and joy in this precious season. We look forward to welcoming her back next year!

We’re also thrilled to announce that Miss Gavrilloff will be stepping into the role of 4 Green’s teacher. A former student of HopePoint Christian School, Miss Gavrilloff has already been part of our school community this year, doing some casual teaching here and at RPCS. She is a gifted and passionate young teacher, and we’re excited to see her in this new role. Please give her a warm welcome if you see her around!

My door is always open.
