Year 4 News

Recap of Term 1

At the end of last term we created incredible projects for a country in either Africa, Australia or South America! First we had to research aspects about our country like its animals, climate, cultural traditions and clothing and so many other new and interesting facts. We then got to make dioramas, posters or presentations about all the information we collected. Finally, we did a walkthrough of all the Grade 4 classes to see their final products. Everyone did an amazing job!

"I did Egypt for my project. Egypt is a country famous for its structures such as the Pyramids of Giza. Its scorching climate can play tricks on the mind such as a mirage. If one gets caught up in a sandstorm they will be blinded by sand. The best thing they can do is seek shelter" - Henry

"For our OLA project we looked at the whole of South America. We looked into animals which were Capybaras and Jaguars" - Sonny B & Chester L

"In my OLA project I wrote about South Africa. I mentioned some of the traditions, food and climate and more! What I enjoyed learning about the most was the traditions and food because I love dancing and the foods look tasty!" - Kaashni

Persausive Writing

This week, we have been diving into persuasive writing — and trust us, we are becoming master convincers! We've been brainstorming topics about what really grinds our gears and the changes we want to see in the world. From important issues like the cost of living and why essential workers should be paid more, to passionate debates about why dogs are way better than cats and that students should be paid to come to school — our students have had a lot to say, and they’re saying it with style!

"I got really annoyed when I found out that AFL players were getting paid MORE than nurses. Why are nurses getting paid less to save our lives whereas AFL players are getting paid to kick around a ball and have fun. I thought I should write a piece about this so that we could do something about it like create awareness or make donations! "- Mia P

"I am writing about why NMPS should not have school uniforms. I chose this topic because I like wearing my own clothes from home and my parents don't have to spend money on uniforms and that I can wear my soccer jerseys!" - Reis S
