Year 2 News

From Sally, Year 2 Teacher
Welcome back to an already lively Term 2!
In the short time that we have been back, we have enjoyed sharing our most loved moments from the break. We have explored these in Writing, where the student had opportunity to describe their favourite holiday activity using the five senses: sight, sound, noise, smell and feeling. Some students went further with their descriptive language through simile and metaphor. We then turned these into postcards. To help inspire these pieces, we shared various forms of letter writing in Reading.
"the cushions were as soft as cat's fur"- Akram
"the trees were as fresh as perfume" - Thea
In Numeracy, we have practised some of our prior learnt skills as well as introduced some new skills via familiar fluency games. These skills included skip counting in 2s, 10s and 5s, doubling, place value and multiplication.
In Wellbeing we focused on developing healthy friendships. The classes discussed the most popular games played in the yard and who they regularly play with. The students then had a go at playing a game they don't normally play with peers they don't normally spend time with. As a class, we reflected on how enjoyable it was to try something new with new friends.
Looking forward to another productive term!
