Faith and Mission

This week, we have been mindful of the momentous events unfolding in our wider Church. As the conclave gathered in prayer and discernment, Catholics around the world were united in hope, asking the Holy Spirit to guide the cardinals in choosing the next shepherd of our global Church.
This morning, we welcomed the announcement of Pope Leo XIV, the newly elected Bishop of Rome. As he steps into this sacred ministry, we give thanks for his “yes” to God and for the mission that lies before him. Pope Leo XIV inherits a Church rich in tradition yet deeply engaged with the realities of a changing world. His leadership offers a renewed call to unity, humility, and courageous faith. Let us pray that he will build a Church that is both faithful to the apostolic tradition and open to the needs of the poor, the stranger, and all who long for mercy.
As we continue to walk in faith and hope we also look ahead to Mothers' Day this Sunday. It is a time to give thanks for the many mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in our lives who, through their care, wisdom and sacrifice, have shown us the unconditional love of God. They are often our first witnesses to faith, our teachers of compassion, and the ones who hold us when we are uncertain.
Today, our school community came together to celebrate a Mothers' Day Eucharist, organised by our Primary School. The liturgy recognised and gave thanks for the important role that mothers and caregivers play in our lives. We appreciate the efforts of all those who helped prepare and lead the celebration, which offered a meaningful opportunity to gather in prayer and reflection.
Let us continue to pray for the Church, for one another, and for all those who show us the face of God through their daily lives.

Good News for 4th Sunday of Easter
The Scripture
Jesus said:
‘The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice;
I know them and they follow me.
I give them eternal life;
they will never be lost
and no one will ever steal them from me.
The Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone,
and no one can steal from the Father.
The Father and I are one.’
John 10:27-30
