Principal's Update

In the first week back this term, we held our annual ANZAC Day Commemoration service, marking the 110th anniversary of the landing of the ANZACs at Gallipoli.
Our School Captains laid a school wreath under the flagpole which is next to our Gallipoli Oak planted in the garden bed. This tree is a descendant of acorns sent home by a soldier at Gallipoli in 1915 and provided to us by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria), supported by the RSL and other sponsors. Some classes made a wreath to lay at the flagpole. Our students participated with the respect deserved by the occasion. It was also fabulous to have the Greenvale PS Kindergarten students in attendance also. Thank you to Jessica Wynd and our school captains for leading the service. The spirit of this service is about honouring the courage of soldiers who fought for the freedom of their country.
The Years 4-6 Attitudes to School Survey will be open for our students to complete from Monday 12 May until Friday 13 June.
The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. We will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.
ORIMA Research Pty Ltd has been contracted by the department to manage the collection of the online survey and will provide support to schools through a telephone hotline and email.
We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and are offering our Year 4 to 6 students an opportunity to participate in the Department of Education and Training survey to find out what your child thinks of their school.
Parent/carers of students in Year 4 to 6 will receive further information shortly via a Compass post.
2025 School Review
Currently Greenvale Primary School is undertaking a school review. Review is a key element of the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0 (FISO 2.0) improvement cycle. Schools undertake a school review every 4 years to inform the directions of the school’s 4-year School Strategic Plan (SSP).
There are 2 components of school review:
Pre-Review Self-Evaluation (PRSE)
We began this self-evaluation in Term 4, 2024 & Term 1, 2025
This is where schools review their data and other evidence to form a collective view of current practice and areas for improvement. Schools complete the PRSE on the Strategic Planning Online Tool (SPOT) with the support of their senior education improvement leader (SEIL).
School Review
This will occur during Term 2, 2025 with four scheduled days of panel meetings and Field Days.
The School Review is facilitated by an independent school reviewer with a panel comprising the principal and leadership team, the school council president, our Senior Education Improvement Leader, and two invited Challenge Partners. The panel considers the PRSE and undertakes additional fieldwork activities such as classroom observations, focus groups and interviews. The review concludes with a report proposing draft goals, targets and key improvement strategies for the school’s next SSP. Our School Reviewer’s name is Wendy Larcombe.
