3/4 Classroom News

Can you believe we are about to head into Week 5 of the term!
Inquiry:
This week in our 3/4 classrooms, the students have begun presenting their research on their chosen World Explorer. So far, their presentations have been extremely informative which shows their utilisatio of comprehension strategies in their research reading has certainly paid off.
Next week, we begin researching the local history. We can't wait to get into it and share our final presentation with you at our Showcase at the end of the term (date and time to be confirmed).
Maths:
In Maths, we continue to focus on our Ninja Maths, as well as learning and practising different strategies we can use when faced with a multiplication and/or division problem. Last week, we spent some time calculating money and coming up with different ways to make various amounts. Later in the term, we will look at how to calculate change.
Literacy:
Our story writing is coming along nicely. This term, we are writing a suspense story, using dramatic connectives such as "Hardly aring to breath, ..." "Through the dim light, ..." and "Shaking with fear, ...". We are seeing all of their hard work in Term 1 around the use of adjectives, adverbs and personification displayed in this term's writing, so the finished results will be something to be very proud of. Our PLD Spelling program is also in full swing and we're starting to see some very pleasing results. The students are in full routine now and are able to independently sort through their activities and spelling routines.
Next week is a busy week, being Education Week. On Thursday morning, our classrooms will be open for parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles, to come and look at the amazing learning that's been happening so far this year.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the amazing weather we've been having.
