INTERSCHOOL CHESS TOURNAMENT

On Friday, May 9th, Oberon had sixteen brilliant students represent the school in an interschool chess tournament. This was an exciting opportunity for all participants and the first time Oberon participated in this tournament face-to-face since COVID.
Commendably, all students epitomised the Oberon Way throughout the day, competing with great integrity and sportsmanship. All students were able to earn points throughout the day, contributing to the school's placement in fifth overall.
Congratulations to Gus Dahm, Aliza Heath, Banjo Cosgriff, and Kasey Van Den Dungen, who all earned Player of the Round awards throughout the day. Aliza and Kasey also tied for third place in the Female category of the tournament. Additionally, Milan Knezevic and Otis Pogue qualified for the State Finals, which will take place in Term 4.
Well done to all who participated. If you are interested in competing in future events, please attend the Chess Club on Fridays in the Library or contact Ms. Waldron for more information about upcoming events.
