SONGMAKERS

Seventeen lucky students participated in the first ever ‘Oberon High School Songmakers’ event.
Students worked with three professional musicians ‘Jackson Phelan, Elizabeth Drummond and Demii Louise’ to write, perform and record a song in an intense two-day workshop. The mentors were effective in sharing knowledge about the music industry and in motivating students to create their own music.
The students worked in four small band groups to record songs, and we had a range of genres from punk to acoustic rock. The students are excited to share their recordings with the school by placing their songs on the end of break bell music or Spotify/SoundCloud. These songs will be eventually uploaded to the ‘Songmaker’ website.
The performing arts team is very proud of their achievements. Well done!
We are now looking forward to the music production workshop day that will be held on the 22nd of May.
