FOCUS PLAN

Over the past few months, as part of the Connect program, students have been learning important skills to support their engagement and wellbeing in the classroom. They’ve explored their own character strengths, learned how to recognise signs of emotional escalation in their bodies, and developed strategies to help them regulate their emotions.
A key part of this work has been creating individual Focus Plans. The Focus Plan is each student’s personalised plan for getting into the mindset where they are ready to learn. As part of our Berry Street Education Model training, the teachers are working to create the optimal state for learning, where our students feel safe, regulated, engaged and motivated. The Focus Plans provide an opportunity for students to get themselves in the right state of mind for learning.
The Focus Plans have been uploaded onto Xuno for students to access when they need. We will provide opportunities for them to revisit these plans later in the year and make any modifications if needed, as we know these skills continue to grow and evolve. We’re encouraging students to understand that learning to self-regulate is not just a valuable skill for school, but something that can support them in many areas of life.
